Review of the Passion overheard at a local restaurant
My daughter overheard a man at a restaurant who had just been to a special screening of the Passion tonight. He said the first hour was nothing but Jesus getting beaten so he left because he couldn't take it anymore.

And people are dragging their children to this? Our society scares and saddens me.

1. I read somewhere on DU that parents are saying....
.."it's the good kind of violence". Give me a break, please.

3. I would have been heartbroken as a child to see violence done to JC
He was the benevolent lover of children and all the weak and small. What are these people thinking? This pisses me off...Yet these same people FREAK OUT at a woman's 5 second boob flash. I can guarantee this movie will traumatize their children way more than that!

17. Good point. I saw
"Focus on the family" Dobson, yakking about the film on CNN yesterday. He was going on about movies today being too foul and VIOLENT<------??????

I did hear Gibson say that no children under 12 should view it :eyes:

He went on to say that the movie was about the salvation message; that it was a great evangelizing tool for today.

Folks, I'm a Christian, but what's going on in religious organizations today is not only off the charts but it's just plain wrong.

On principle, I wouldn't go see this movie for a million bucks.

4. And these people protest Grand Theft Auto and hate abortion?
I'm 17, I plan on seeing the movie, by choice of course, but a lot of my peers...their parents are FORCING them to see it.

5. The grown man at the restaurant didn't even make it to the Crucifixion.
I can not imagine letting a child see that. My favorite Jesus movie of all time is JC Superstar but I still cringe at the lashing scene even though it's mostly just the sound of the whip and the music. But then again, I like to celebrate Jesus' life, not his death...

8. Mel gets beaten at lot in his movies....
Too much of anything is bad for the story. His torture in Braveheart got to me.

I'm not going to see it.

20. OK...
The freak out over 5 seconds of a boob most people didn't even see, but they say its a "good thing" for kids to be seeing a man beaten, whipped, and tortured for nearly an hour? That sounsd like something that the Marquis de Sade's kids would do, not mine if I had any.

21. Loved Andy Rooney's pointed question to Mal Gibson on Sunday:
Mr. Gibson, just how many millions of dollars do you expect to make by exploiting the crucifixion of Christ?

22. Good for you, Mr. Rooney
>Mr. Gibson, just how many millions of dollars do you expect to make by exploiting the crucifixion of Christ?<

I'm only sorry that he didn't ask "Mr. Gibson" how Gibson's wife felt to read in the international media that her husband, who will not allow her to use birth control and whom she's borne seven children for, believes that she is going to Hell.

I'm thinking Hell is living with Mr. Gibson, but I suppose that would make me bitter, hm?
