Democrat Says CIA Didn't Give UN All Iraq WMD Data
Mon February 23, 2004 06:23 PM ET

By Tabassum Zakaria
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Democratic senator accused CIA Director George Tenet on Monday of making false statements when he said during public hearings that his agency gave the United Nations information about all the top suspected weapons of mass destruction sites in Iraq before the war.

"All such sites were not shared, and Mr. Tenet's repeated statements were false," Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan said in a speech on the Senate floor.

The CIA last month declassified the number of top suspected WMD sites categorized as high and medium priority, and acknowledged that 21 of those 105 sites were not shared with the United Nations before the war, Levin said.

A U.S. intelligence official countered that nine of those 21 sites had been "frequently" visited by U.N. inspectors between 1991 and 1999 and they knew as much about them as the CIA. Three of the sites were added to the CIA's list after Iraq declared them to the United Nations, and three sites were duplicate entries, the official told Reuters.

3. if the US had been able to send the inspectors to ONE wmd site
they might have had some credibility with me, but they could/would not. They kept saying "we know exactly where the weapons are" and the inspectors said "well tell us then" and the US said "no, we're not gonna do that".

Good grief. How anybody couldn't see what was going on there is beyond me. It was pretty freaking obvious.

5. About time!!! It's either Bush or Tenet going back and forth to distort
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 10:35 PM by Zinfandel
and throw out so much bullshit, purposely, simply to confuse...I'm glad someone is speaking up...finally it been almost 31/2 years for the spineless democrats to reconize that the emperor has no clothes, and NEVER has!

Not a fucking moment too soon.

Only another attack can put Bush back into INDESTRUCTIBILITY, but if that happens only two things can occur, a complete military state where Bush is dictator or Bush is going to be figuratively lynched by mobs and rioters!!!

As I watched Tenet on CSPAN one day, I could tell when he lied about Bush. He literally talked out the one side of his mouth. It went up quite a lot. Talk about body language.

11. Unravel this....
The role of Krongard & Bremer...

When asked about the status of the investigation into
the disproportionate pre-attack stock option trades
involving United and American Airlines, Merrill Lynch,
Marsh and McLennan Insurance, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup,
Bear Stearns, and American Express, etc. -- all icons
of American capitalism -- NYSE Communications Director
Ray Pellecchia said, "We don't even confirm that there
is an ongoing investigation."

Prior to being in Iraq, Bremer was Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of Marsh Crisis Consulting Company, a crisis
management firm owned by the financial services firm Marsh &
McLennan. From 1989 to 2000, he was Managing Director of
Kissinger Associates, a strategic consulting firm headed by former
Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.

Krongard's current lofty intelligence community position,
combined with his prior leadership of a financial institution
allegedly connected to terrorist hijacker bank accounts, suspicious
UAL options contracts, and "private banking" is so controversial that
it has not as yet sparked any official investigation.

That said, the evidence is substantial enough to potentially
expose the prior-knowledge issue -- if Congress chooses to act.

And while Treasury Department official Rob Nichols agreed that
unresolved conflict of interest questions remain, the CIA Executive
Director is still currently charged with supervision of the U.S.
intelligence investigation of his former firm and its
"private banking" operations.

Since the Sept. 11 attacks, Krongard has traveled to Afghanistan, hiding
his facial features behind a beard. After the war in Iraq broke out in
March, he went to Baghdad to see firsthand how events were unfolding.
While inside a palace that belonged to the deposed Saddam Hussein,
Krongard had a snapshot taken of him sitting on a palace throne.

It's impossible for a man to be in
that position and be totally ignorant.
