Daddy Matcom Just Predicted A Landslide For The Dems!
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 08:31 PM by matcom
it means NOTHING

BUT

Dadcom says that NOBODY (even his repuke friends in NC) are happy AT ALL with CHIMP!

"NO WAY" he says.

On Nader: "NOT EVEN AN ISSUE this time around!"

On Bush: "This CRIMINAL will NEVER be reelected!"

On The Election: "I am SCARED TO DEATH about Diebold but if they THROW THIS ELECTION, I WILL PERSONALLY TAKE TO THE STREETS MYSELF!" (Dadcom is 70 next year)

Dadcom has come a LONG way but is FIRMLY ABB this time.

I know I know, i sound like a broken record when it comes to my Dad, but it is the SMALL victories that inspire me.

Thanks for listening.........

I'll bore you again tomorrow

Hey, Matcom! Be sure to give Dadcom a huge hug and thumbs up from us here at DU. What a cool guy he must be, and what a terrific son you must be, too. In many ways, your Dad's message is more inspiring that ANY good news in the media. I'm hoping to find a chink in my repuke family's armor sometime soon.

One sad note: My sis was here visiting this weekend. She said she way supported the Dems' positions on finances, etc., over the 'Pukes, but the abortion issue was her line in the sand. She'll vote 'Puke till jesus returns over that issue. :hurts:

4. Dadcom rocks
Please tell Dadcom that there'll be lots of us in the streets if Bunnypants manages to finagle his way back into the White House.

BTW, we have been talking with more and more people who have previously identified as staunch Republicans, but are now insisting that they will vote for anyone else but Bunnypants, and that includes the Democratic nominee.

There's a huge shift going on in the USA. Believe me, this is no small victory. The historic difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats will vote for a qualified Republican candidate; Republicans typically won't. For them to cross the aisle is unprecedented.

As we each talk to those we know about taking America back, we'll hear about more and more and more of these former Republicans.

10. In the streets....
There's enough evidence on bunnypants and thugs now, don't you feel we should be in the streets now and oust the entire mob because many of us fear that bunnypants is going to do the bunnyhop all the way down to another LIHOP and cancel the elections, thus giving him another pass as DICTATOR.

21. Taking it to the streets
>don't you feel we should be in the streets now and oust the entire mob because many of us fear that bunnypants is going to do the bunnyhop all the way down to another LIHOP and cancel the elections, thus giving him another pass as DICTATOR.<

Haven't we already been there, multiple times?

At this point, in my opinion, the most important thing is to EDUCATE. The Republicans and independents who are willing to cross the aisle and vote with us aren't going to take to those streets. They're going to their neighbor's house, drinking a cup of coffee, and talking about how they lost their job at the plant/at the office/how their businesses are tanking due to a bad economy, among other things. They're talking about how afraid they are that their teenage sons may find themselves in Iraq due to a draft. They are absolutely infuriated that they have been duped. We have something better to offer in November. The educating is happening one on one.

Matcom took to the streets. We have. I'm sure that you have. Dadcom, though, finally saw it his son's way because his son took the time to send him the links. To talk with him. To explain why he believed that it is imperative that the BFEE find another hobby besides politics in the United States. Dadcom is an intelligent man; he figured it out. Sometimes, though, it takes our friends, neighbors and co-workers a one on one experience to begin the long process of waking up.

Our neighbor never would have called me if she thought I would laugh in her face or remind her that they were staunch Bunnypants boosters in the last election. Our other conservative friends are equally as baffled and infuriated that the things they hold important have been ignored by this administration.

If the Democrats truly want to make inroads on other folks around the USA, they'll have to do what a now withdrawn Presidential candidate encouraged: Reach ten. Find ten people in your life who are now reeling at what has happened to them and to their families over the past three and a half years. Ask them if they'd like to see some articles about things you think are important. Ask them if they have questions about Democratic candidates. Ask them if they're better off now than they were four years ago.

Those ten will reach ten more. You, and everyone reading this thread, have the potential to reach 100 voters that won't pull a lever for the BFEE in November. It'll take a few hours of your time, something cool or warm to drink, and some determination, but you can see change without even leaving your neighborhood.

5. I've never wanted...
... anyone's dad to be right like I want your dad to be :)

I'm trying not to get too excited, but I'm getting the same anecdotal info in real life that you are. Older gentlemen who have voted Rep virtually all their life who think Bush* is a moron and will not vote for him again.

It's going to take something bigger than Osama Been Forgotten to pull this out for the Dim Son. Another attack on our soil will work against him, and he will not be able to suppress all investigations again.

I guess the economy could catch fire, but then it had damned sure better hurry up. 100,000 jobs is not going to cut it.

Message to the WordMangler - "your daddy cannot bail you out of this one".

11. My gut feeling agrees with your dad.
Yet I am not going to be that happy with the replacement, another Washington insider who isn't going to bring much change that is needed, but at least maybe he'll be able to reverse some of the damage that BushCo has done.

15. Didn't Dadcom predict the CIA...
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 10:27 PM by Imajika
...was pissed at Bush and was gonna go after him?

You know, the theory that the CIA would be the unlikely hero and show themselves as true patriots and bring Bush down?

Sorry, I don't buy it. It hasn't happened yet, and I'm betting it never will.

I don't think the CIA is after Bush, infact I suspect that the vast majority of the CIA will support Bush. The bottom line, the intelligence communities know Republicans will throw money at them whether they really need it or not. These guys are not gonna bite the hand that feeds.

Further, I think it is absolute nonsense to predict a landslide. Predicting something so far in advance in politics is silly. A week is nearly a lifetime in politics, 8 months is practically an eternity.

Many people, including myself and much of the media conventional wisdom had Dean winning the Democratic nomination. Dean imploded. Kerry, who had little to no support on DU and was scores of points down in NH and elsewhere now appears to be cruising towards the nomination and suddenly appears to be a strong opponent for Bush.

The only problem with that is we don't really know if he would have any real popularity amongst the American general public once they get to know him (not just the Massachusetts public). Kerry has a long record of votes and policy positions that are left of where much of the country is. Can he overcome this? Possibly yes. Will he overcome it? Who knows. But if he doesn't and is painted as a northeastern, anti-war, anti-defense spending liberal he could lose badly, and it could be the Democratic party losing in a landslide.

Nixon was hated by many and generally disliked by perhaps the majority, but he still won easily in a landslide decision in 72'. Predictions of landslides now are useless, and Dadcom's track record doesn't impress me so far.

17. Actually, it's happening now:
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_02_01.html#002527

<excerpt>

On September 30th of last year Rep. John Conyers, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to the CIA requesting a description of what contacts the Agency had had with Justice about the Plame matter prior to the commencement of the investigation.

Then last Friday, January 30th, the CIA responded in a letter we've just added to the TPM Document Collection. <http://talkingpointsmemo.com/docs/plame.cia.letter.pdf>

According to the letter the CIA first contacted Justice by phone on July 24th, 2003. They followed up on July 30th, 2003 with a letter advising them of a possible violation of criminal law and informing them that they had opened their own investigation.

The folks at the CIA seem not to have gotten an altogether satisfactory response to the July 30th letter because they again sent the letter, by fax, on September 5th, 2003.

Then on September 16, 2003 they contacted Justice yet again to inform them that they (i.e., CIA) had completed their investigation. They provided a memo summarizing their findings and requested that the FBI begin a criminal investigation of the matter.

Finally on September 29th, Justice notified the CIA that they had in fact begun an investigation.

18. Wow... picking on someone's Dadcom isn't very nice...
You could've just hid this thread instead of feeling compelled to reply with such a terse post. Besides, Dadcom isn't the only former spook who believes the CIA will ultimately retaliate against the Bush admin. I've read the same thing from several different sources.

Radioactive, indeed.

22. It's still early
>You know, the theory that the CIA would be the unlikely hero and show themselves as true patriots and bring Bush down?

Sorry, I don't buy it. It hasn't happened yet, and I'm betting it never will.<

It took, if I recall correctly, over a year for Watergate to gain traction and begin rolling. The Plame case is still steaming ahead, but quietly. There are several other scandals emanating from this administration that have proven to have "legs" as well.

I think we'll get some fairly interesting surprises in the next few months.
