How to find a place to stay in Boston for the convention
Hello,

I was wondering what people's experiences were in trying to locate a place to stay in Boston during the convention. How did you find a place, what were your experiences, and how much did you pay? Did you try to reserve a hotel room, or like me are you trying to rent somebody's apartment or condo?

I like checking out boston.craigslist.org for the ads, but I've also seen some at the 2004dnc.com site. Anybody have any other ideas?

THANKS!

You may try the youth hostel. It's in the Back Bay/Fenway area and right near the Green Line.

Hotels are usually over $200 right in the city (unless you want to stay on the outskirts or in the 'burbs). They will probably be higher during the convention.

A few other sources you could try for apartment rentals:

http://www.townonline.com

And the local indymedia site may have some info:

On edit: You May Also want to try college websites like BU, Northeastern, BC, Harvard, MIT, etc. Boston has a huge student population and many go away for the summer, and may have a vacant apartment they will want to share or lease.

2. Thanks. anybody else?
I'm finding a lot of stuff on craigslist. pretty pricey but mostly places in boston which seems very convenient - you can walk to the convention. i think if a few of us stayed in a house or condo it could be less pricey than if we got hotel rooms.

3. If you ask real nice, you might find a Boston DU'er with space :)
There's a lot of DU'ers in the Boston area (me included, but I can't promise any space currently, I may already have people coming in to town, maybe if you PM me as the date gets closer).
