Poll: Many Americans support TV executions
http://www.local6.com/news/2867927/detail.html

NEW YORK -- Two-thirds of Americans polled last month said they support the idea of televising executions -- and 21 percent said they'd pay to watch Osama bin Laden put to death.

Eleven percent said they would pay to see Saddam Hussein executed.

3. I have heard some death penalty opponents favor it
They argue that telvising executions would show people how brutal it is, while some death penalty proponentsdon't want people to see an execution for fear it would just make people sympathize with the condemned.

I'd be too worried that the footage would end up on the internet and in MTV videos. Our criminal justice system is not a spectator sport.

9. Wacked Priorities
Public executions are fine, but an exposed nipple is wrong, immoral and destructive to our children...:eyes:

5. Horrible.
I could not watch another human being die, regardless of who it was. Even if someone came into my house and murdered my family, I could not watch them die.
I accidently saw the infamous video of R. Budd Dwyer committing suicide a few years ago, and to this day it still haunts me.

What do you expect with all this Survivor, Fear Factor, Midget and Slob Marrying, Donald Trump wannabe crap that passes for television nowadays?

12. Of course
We were never a bloodthirsty, vengeful society before Survivor came along. </sarcasm>

To me, it seem like we're trying to revert back to the way we used to be in the good ol' USA. Executions used to be a public affair. There has been a push to make them so again for a long time. I'm an anti-DPer who doesn't think they should be televised. There are those who think it would make more people against them, and it may for some, but I think it would be the opposite, overall.

10. Ben Franklin was RIGHT!
http://www.usconstitution.net/franklin.html

"In these sentiments, Sir, I agree to this Constitution with all its faults, if they are such; because I think a general Government necessary for us, and there is no form of Government but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered, and believe farther that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in Despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic Government, being incapable of any other."
--Ben Franklin

Wow, was HE a smart guy! It's like he was living in Imperial Amerika TODAY...RIGHT NOW.

Of course, a Known Terrorist like Ben Franklin would be promptly Gulagged (or is that Gitmoed) by King George, the Imperial Family, and their Stooges.

Imperials, be they the King George of 1776 or the King George of Imperial Amerika, HATE terrorists like Franklin.

11. The ultimate in reality TV....Running Man, anyone?
I always favored people supporting the dealth penalty being required to watch executions.....but...somehow, knowing people would want to watch...that would take glee in watching.. is well...purely sick.

14. My name was originally going to be "achtung- bread and circuses"
The forum told me that was too long, so I opted for the Circus part. I think that this suggestion proves that there is a lot less emphasis on bread and a lot more on circuses.
