This is what happens when Daschle speaks
Can you believe this? Does Daschle know we're in an election year? Minority "leader" my butt. They're using this on the Bush/Cheney 04 website for crying out loud. I'm fed up with Daschle's crap.

The Rapid City Journal (SD) today reports that Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) recently told constituents in Pierre that he is satisfied with progress in the war on terror. Daschle told his audience at the chamber of commerce, “It is a good thing Saddam Hussein is no longer in power. It is a good thing we are democratizing the country."

Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., on Thursday praised the Bush administration's war and nation-building work in Iraq and said he has no serious concerns about the lack of weapons of mass destruction.

Daschle told state chamber of commerce representatives meeting in the South Dakota capital that he is satisfied with the way things are going in Iraq.

"I give the effort overall real credit," Daschle said. "It is a good thing Saddam Hussein is no longer in power. It is a good thing we are democratizing the country."

1. there was a pretty big thread on this when he first said it.......
widespread, ferocious outrage from just about everyone, with the exception of those who factored in his own re-election bid, which causes him, apparently to make such wussy statements when he's back home.

he MUST go, though, it becomes apparent

4. South Dakota went Republican in the last nine presidential elections.
So, you'd rather have an actual Republican instead of Daschle? One who votes with the Republicans on leadership, committee assignments, filibuster cloture, etc., etc.?

No
I'd rather have a party leader in the Senate who doesn't get his home-state speeches plastered all over the Bush/Cheney 2004 website!

C'mon now, he doesn't have to be Ted Kennedy, but does he have to say things about Bush* that are so glowingly complimentary that they wind up on their official website? I mean Bush is the guy he's supposed to be trying to REMOVE from the White House!

2. What a damn fool
We may be stuck with him, though, because if he steps down you take away much of the rationale he can use to run for re-election: that as minority leader he can deliver the goods to SD.

Of course, I can remember a year or two ago whenever he made the most mild criticisms the attack dogs from Tom DeLay to Ed Gillepsie pissed and moaned to such a level that you would have thought Daschle had just congratulated Al Qaeda for a job well done. :eyes:

3. it is a good thing
that Saddam is no longer in power. It is not a good thing to lack the WMD's that this war was sold on

5. He makes me sick.........
I don't think he's gonna be re-elected this time. I'd rather have REAL Republican in his place. Then at least, we'd know who our enemy was.

7. Pink tutu's are going out of style.
I'm sick of the Alan Colmes-esque Daschle.
