you'd think it was a Lounge thread!
here's a giggle, the opening paragraphs of 'the new book'
Chapter One
Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism
gee, nice company you put us in sean
Three years ago, evil surfaced in the Western world in a way it had not in six decades, since the day of infamy at Pearl Harbor. Americans were forced to confront pure human wickedness in a way we had not in generations. And in that moment we rose as one nation to the challenge — led, fortunately, by a leader who had the clarity of vision to recognize that evil for what it was, and to rally America and the world against it. Even many of the most committed liberals seemed to have their compasses reoriented in the face of that unmistakable act of war and crime against humanity.
it was an act of TERRORISM sean, intended to terrify. it was very successful. it was also the greatest thing to happen in bush*'s pathetic 'presidency'. he still hasn't answered a single question raised by that act but has politicized it and used a relentless agenda of fearmongering and warmongering to advance a agenda which guarantees an ongoing transfer of wealth to the wealthiest.
But nearly three years have passed. And in the intervening time our wounds have healed, our senses and memories dulled. The nation rallied behind its leader long enough to expel the state sponsors of evil in Afghanistan.
well, some of them. and nevermind because there're back. along with the burkas and opium and warloads.
Yet by the time the confrontation with Iraq presented itself, our courage and moral certainty seemed to fade in the face of partisan bickering and posturing.
there was no "confrontation with Iraq" until GWB lied about a WMD threat and used that to pursue the invasion. hundreds of Americans and thousands of Iraqis have died. and there's no end in sight.
We toppled a murderous dictator in Iraq — and yet now the political left and the Democratic Party are trying to use the demanding aftermath of the war to exploit our national cause for their own political advantage.
the political left was right. the war was a fraud. of course it's going to be an issue in removing this unelected war criminal
How could we allow ourselves to forget so soon?
oh don't worry sean, we haven't forgetten ANYTHING from FL on...
I decided to write this book because I believe it is our responsibility to recognize and confront evil in the world — and because I'm convinced that if we fail in that mission it will lead us to disaster.
Sean, put down the pen, pick up a gun, and go confront evil in Bahgdad. At the very least, put down the pen. We've seen what kind of disaster following your 'leader' gets us.
