PROOF that Roy Moore is wrong. (The Jefferson Bible)
The idea that the United States was founded as a fundamentalist Christian nation is simply untrue. The best proof of that is that Thomas Jefferson actually EDITED THE NEW TESTAMENT to produce a liberal version of the Bible! This work is called the "Jefferson Bible."

"Jefferson discovered a Jesus who was a great Teacher of Common Sense. His message was the morality of absolute love and service. Its authenticity was not dependent upon the dogma of the Trinity or even the claim that Jesus was uniquely inspired by God."

And here is a link to the actual wording:

There is a lot of information on the net about the Jefferson Bible--335,000 Google hits. You can also purchase a copy on Amazon. For Duers who live in Bible Belt areas, it might be handy to have around for political discussions. :-)

3. Oh, my goodness!
DOES MEL GIBSON KNOW ABOUT THE QUEEN JANE'S BIBLE???!!! :wow:

Actually, it looks like a fascinating read, but since it's out of print and selling for over $100 on amazon and don't think many people will be reading it.

2. And THAT's the Bible they give to each Congress-critter. So...
when someone tells you that Congress hands the
"Bible" to each new member. You can tell them,
yeah, Thomas Jefferson's version of it. With
no old testament, and only some of the words
of Jesus.

LOL.

Nowhere near enough people know about the Jefferson
Bible.

5. I had no idea!
Actually, I didn't even know there was a Jefferson Bible until a couple of days ago. I'm starting to feel really ripped off by my college education...

Thanks for the info!

4. We WANT Moore to run for President - so lay off of him.

6. Hmmm....
I guess I live by the philosophy that the truth will set us free. Even if Roy Moore did run and cause Bush to lose, we'd still have to deal with the insanity of the political fundies at some point. :-)

7. Jefferson of the Book of Revelation:
"It is between fifty and sixty years since I read it , and I then considered it merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherences of our own nightly dreams."

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to General Alexander Smyth, Jan. 17, 1825
