Skipping "Passion", waiting for the Second Coming of Christ movie
Which will never be made because a modern day Christ would be speaking out against the war, the billions spent on bombs, the discrimination against homosexuals, the polluting of the earth, the systematic attack on the middle class and poor and the overall greed of modern day America. Then he would be crucified by the Pat Robertsons, Mel Gibson's, Jerry Farwells, George Bushes, Dick Cheneys of the world. Ya know, the ones who will drop the biggest tears while clutching their bibles, watching "Passion".

1. You mean the "biography of George W. Bush" currently
being produced by the Committee to Reelect the President?

3. Read the Gospel of Thomas
One of the book that caused the extermination of thousands of Gnostics in the 2nd century and a domination of Chritianity by "the church" for the next millenium. These texts were kept from people because they threatened the power of the church to control the people. Two of the fragments below are two of the more interesting and powerful lines attributed to Jesus. Think of how the follwing lines would have been taken 1800 years ago.

http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/gthlamb.html

(77) Jesus said, "It is I who am the light which is above them all. It is I who am the all. From me did the all come forth, and unto me did the all extend. Split a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there."

(113) His disciples said to him, "When will the kingdom come?"
<Jesus said,> "It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying 'here it is' or 'there it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it."

(108) Jesus said, "He who will drink from my mouth will become like me. I myself shall become he, and the things that are hidden will be revealed to him."

I personally have found these texts to be interesting.

4. I am currently reading "The Gnostic Gospels" by Janet Pagels (spelling?)
and it is fascinating, it's all about these documents that were found in Nag Hammadi and how they reveal the other gospels that were lost for centuries and that the Catholic Church would like to have them remain lost.

I especially like the references to Mary Magdalene, the one who Christ loved more then anyone.

This conversation about the Gnostic Gospels probably belongs in The Meeting Room.

By the way, LeftHander, thanks for the links you provided. I will go thru them when I have more time.:hi:

5. You aren't missing anything
The plot could use some work -- the ending is completely contrived. It's like they were trying to tie up all the loose ends in the last 10 minutes of the film.

Maybe the director's cut DVD will have an alternate ending that makes more sense...
