Today Neal Boortz was defending homosexuals from fundies.

It's true. I heard it with my own ears. He kept emphasizing that people do not choose to be gay but generally are created that way. I think he's trying to keep the fundies in the GOP camp, but whatever he was trying to do he at least didn't take the position that homosexuality is an abomination. I just caught ten or 15 minutes but he actually sounded reasonable. One caller was a girl whose father was dead and her mother had found a lesbian partner. The girl said that it took her a while to accept it but that she really loved her new mom and was very grateful for her.

Here's a link to a blurb on his website about the gay marriage issue:

Gay marriage might turn out to be more of a wedge issue for the GOP than for the general electorate.

1. Boortz is a libertarian, isn't he?
Libertarians are GOP on steriods about free market issues, but when is comes to social issues like prostitution, gay marraige and such they tend to be quite liberal.

3. Yeah, libertarians are at least consistent
Unlike Repugs who are only conservative on the cutting taxes part and not on the cutting the budget to coincide with it part. You know, the parts that help win elections.

4. He's not a libertarian.
He says he is because the rightwing media devised a way to appeal to pornnbeer suburbanite men while shilling for Bush. A true libertarian would never support a war like last year's and would support a return to the gold standard and cuts in the defense budget.

5. he's libertarian in some respects
obviously. But I think, as you do, that for the most part he's the variety of "libertarian" that uses the label so they can attempt to portray themselves as independent thinkers while in actuality they are mostly identical with the repub/rightwing doctrine. And as you say, it's a marketing spin that appeals to a certain segment of rightwing radio listeners.

6. You may be right... Just think of how many RWers likely have family
members who are gay or lesbian... If not family members, college friends or other close colleagues... It is not going to be quite so easy for them to spew their hatred and biggoted views when it hits so close to home...

7. Look for a big name in conservative politics to be outed soon.

Confirmation of the rumours about Governor Goodhair? Bush* and Victor Ashe? Someone else?
