They call themself Baptists but they are not recognised by any Baptist denomination. They are essentially Fred Phelps and his family. He has several children and all their extended family comprise the Westboro church. They host the ghf site and show up to protest various events they deem sinful.

One of the major problems with this group other than the obvious is everyone in the family is a lawyer. They are the most litigious people you are likely to come across. They have been engaged in continuous legal battles in their home state for decades now.

They are real. They are not nice. They are fortunately an aboration. Though not as much of one as one would hope.
