And who, pray tell, would that be? Bush? Nader? Sadam? I see each of them in about the same light.

4. Bush
According to that article.

I've never seen a Democratic Party more unified and more focused, and the anger helps do just that," said GOP pollster Frank Luntz. "The intensity level is just so high. They're using four-letter words to describe him."

In a recent focus group that Luntz conducted for MSNBC, technicians had to adjust the volume levels because the Bush-haters were "so gosh-darn loud" they were drowning out the president's supporters, who were more numerous, Luntz said. "It was a real problem."

14. I love it
Luntz tries to give the impression Bush-haters are just louder than the Bush supporters, who are "more numerous." Right. :eyes:

At least he admits the Dem Party is super focused. That's saying a lot, because he's a GOP pollster and Bush apologist extraordinaire.

"John McAdams, a political scientist at Marquette University, said resentment of Bush is particularly strong among liberals who already hold three things against him: 'First, he's a conservative. Second, he's a Christian. And third, he's a Texan. When you add all of those things up, that invokes pretty much every symbol of the cultural wars.' "

Ugh. Yeah, we hate him because he's a Christian. And from Texas. Pretty much sums it up, right?

Never mind that he's a lying, chickenhawk warmongering asshole who uses his "Christian"-ness to preach hatred towards anything non-hetero or non-Christian, destroy necessary social programs, fuck up the schools, destroy the Bill of Rights, fuck the working class, capitalize on the threat of terror, destroy the environment and make the filthy rich even filthier rich.

But never mind all that. We liberals just don't like him because he's a Christian, right?

to know that there is a seething anger over this President. Perhaps a lot of the same people (like me) voice their opinion too often, but this is a forum to vent without being singled out. I'd say that the posters who are disgusted with Bush far outnumber his supporters.

Then again, when you really analyze it, how can you support this guy?

and I know a lot of very nice people from Texas. That is not the problem. George Bu$h is the problem.

Bu$hCo likes to accuse dems of being angry and irrational. When in reality it is George Bu$h who is the master of hate politics. That's how you can tell he's not a real Christian. Some one who is so filled with hate couldn't possible have anything to do with what christ is all about.

IMHO, anyone who thinks Bu$h is a christian is being deceived.

13. what's your opinion on this paragraph?
<snip>"Anger is not necessarily a productive emotion when it comes to politics," Luntz said. "The anger against Bill Clinton (news - web sites) was so fierce and over the top that it helped him in 1996 and then again during the impeachment in 1998. People got more angry at those yelling at the president than at the president himself. You could easily see the same thing happening here."

<snip>

My take is that it doesn't apply this time around. I think people defended Bill Clinton because they sensed that the right was out of control and their actions unjustified, but the anger directed at the Bush administration is well-deserved.

19. And Bush is not being targeted by a politically motivated
special prosecutor. That's a big difference. As a GOP pollster, Luntz is just twisting himself in knots looking for a silver lining that isn't there. This anger is nothing but good for us because it energizes our party, which could influence turnout. Remember 1994? The Repukes came out to vote, we didn't, and we got hammered. Hopefully, 2004 can be 1994 all over again, with us being the beneficiaries.

52. My take is.....
that the anger against was mostly from the republican establishment, not from the people in this country. Therefore, the republican estanlishment looked silly and paid for it in the next election. However, this time around it is the opposite. The anger at Bush is not from the Democratic party establishment in Washington, but from the people all over the country. BIG DIFFERENCE!

I have my doubts given its slant---
opposition is due to the fact he is "conservative, Christian, and Texan?

Frankly, I'm Texan and Christian and those classifications form part of the basis for why I find him so disgusting. He lies, he's a Texan of Convenience (let's see where he lives when he leaves office shall we...?), and he might be the worst "Christian" of any sort I've ever seen.

But, the article goes to great pains to document the anger and then provide "experts" who warn us that we'll be seen as extreme (as if there are no real complaints), hint that we should be seen that way, and smear all opposition as anti-Christian and anti-Texan. Basically, its the "elite northeastern intellectual" that St. Ralph Nader also alluded to this morning on MTP. Coincidence? Nah, this is the extention of the oldest meme going.

I just don't think that this article does anything but extend that "Dean scream" (i.e., opponents are irrational when they aren't bad elitists!) narrative they have going.

I don't care where he's from or what he believes.

He's a bigoted, lying, warmongering asshole. To me, that has nothing to do with his being a Christian, or being "from" Texas.

But he invokes his religion at every chance, using it as a poor excuse to be a bigoted warmongering asshole.

And that part of the article labels liberals as being anti-Christian.

"Anger is not necessarily a productive emotion when it comes to politics," Luntz said. Yeah, except that with Clinton the people who thought the rights's reaction was over the top were blessed with the common sense to know that a blow-job, even one lied about under oath, was not worthy of impeachment. Where here, when the Democrats yell it's about treason, life, the environment, the US place in the world....not contrived nonsense. If I were Luntz I'd be scared that the folks who aren't angry don't find out why the rest of us are so mad.

Why am I not surprised that Luntz packs his 'focus' groups, aka 'peasants under glass'???

So much for any value that MSNBC reports on alledged focus group 'data' might have had.

Luntz needs to have more than just his 'gosh-darn' volume adjusted.

Anyway, these group 'studies' are easy enough to manipulate even without stacking the numeric deck. Luntz, R-LaLaLand, must be getting lazy.
