1980:Death of the moderate Republican, 2004:Death of the right-wing loon
In 1980 arch conservative Ronald Reagan ran against incumbent Jimmy Carter. THird person in the race was a former Republican and Social liberal. This was a third party that signaled the demise of the moderate republican.

The article posted on third parties said that third parties have signalled the end of their respective movements. We know that the Constitution Party has started to gain steam. They are the only party that I think is more to the right than the Republicans. Especially if Roy Moore runs and it becomes big, it will split the conservative vote, and they will loose their spot at the table to the advantage of the Democrats, and hopefully various liberals and progressives. Could this happen? I hope.

1. They should splinter
Given that one wing of the party has gone completely off the deep end. Moderate Republicans are pretty chagrined, I think, over the antics of these clowns.

He has lost the middle, and they're not going to go further to the right so I hope this Roy Moore (wait, is this the ten commandments Roy Moore?) runs hard.

4. Old retired guys
I make my point with Gerald Ford, who's almost 91.

5. There are probably a few moderate Republicans left,
but not many. Jeffords got out so only Lincoln Chafee comes to mind. That's about it. Even Snowe and Collins fall in line with the right wing wackos when push comes to shove.

There are still a lot in the Northeast who will run as a moderate, but if they get elected their true colors come forth.
