When it comes to raising money, Democrats rule the Internet !
Sometimes it takes a while for a "truth" to materialize before our eyes. However, as we examine the recent Democratic primaries, one fact seems to jump out at us. Democrats are better than Repubs at raising money over the Net.

Look at Howard Dean. He was mostly a creation of the Internet and its ability to raise money for him - into the tens of millions of dollars. Wesley Clark probably could never have run if he had not had a Draft Clark movement on the Net. The money from those donations gave both candidates credibility on a national scale.

The Internet has leveled the playing field for the Democrats. The one-time advantage of the Repubs in fund raising has disappeared. It's mano a mano as far as money goes. Ben Chandler, in the recent Ky House race, raised a tremendous percentage of his funds over the Net. And the Democrats won that race. It's a whole new ballgame folks! :)

2. How much has Bush raised on the internet?*****
Are we really running circles around him? That's awesome. It shows that grassroots politics is alive and well. I love the fact we are now able to efficiently tap the masses -- Howard Dean really proved we can do things in a better way.

3. Until DU, Dean, and Draft Clark groups came along
Conservatives had a monoply online. * still has internet supporter, but it pales in comparison to what Dean or Clark had. *'s Meetup only has 3,000 people, while Kerry has something like 45,000.

6. I guess
but his membership was like 10 times all dems last I heard.

I don't think they "meet up". they contribute and they ALL come out to vote. and their big push this time is an actual voter drive.

4. Yes, because Repub money is about the fat cats...
The people I work with are very well off (incomes in multiples of 100K) and are almost to a man conservative Repubs. However I seriously doubt that most of them would give 2K to shrub unless it would allow them to rub shoulders at some rubber chicken dinner and get their pic taken. They are too selfish and would probably view it as an unacceptable "tax" on their wealth.

So, yes, in this election year at least I think the Internet fundraising is a democratizing force, with multiple small contributions favoring our candidates. Hopefully this trend will help free politics from the shackles of big business concerns to some small degree.

I encourage all to contribute to the coffers of the nominee as I will do.

5. Look for an all-out assault on net by neo-cons
If the neo-cons can't own something, they'll try to crush it out of existance.

7. I dont know about money but
On Newshour last night they said the shrub campain has 6 million e-mail addresses. That is 10 times what Dean got. They were all floored by that number.
