15. ISSUE - HAMBURGERS is now MANUFACTURING
The Bush Regime's dismal record of losing millions of jobs, with the manufacturing sector among the worst, has prompted them to cook the books by classifying work in fast food joints as "manufacturing jobs".

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/20/business/20jobs.html

February 20, 2004
In the New Economics: Fast-Food Factories?
By DAVID CAY JOHNSTON

Is cooking a hamburger patty and inserting the meat, lettuce and ketchup inside a bun a manufacturing job, like assembling automobiles?

"When a fast-food restaurant sells a hamburger, for example, is it providing a 'service' or is it combining inputs to 'manufacture' a product?" the report asks.

Yeah, we hear a lot about defense but without a strong manufacturing sector it would be impossible to build all that is necessary to sustain a real war. And those hamburger jobs just don't pay machinist wages.
Maybe we could throw hot apple pies at the invaders. That would save a whole lot of money, maybe I'm on to something.

Bush's loss of flying status should have spurred probe

By Walter V. Robinson and Francie Latour, Globe Staff, 2/12/2004

President Bush's August 1972 suspension from flight status in the Texas Air National Guard -- triggered by his failure to take a required annual flight physical -- should have prompted an investigation by his commander, a written acknowledgement by Bush, and perhaps a written report to senior Air Force officials, according to Air Force regulations in effect at the time.

I got some issues right here.

Today, it's Halliburton sub contracting out the food service for the soldiers overseas and making them sick from the bad, worm ridden meals. Hubby and I discussed this when he got a mailing from the Repukes. Enclosed was a big photo of Georgie and Pickles. I asked if I could have the photo so I could mail it back as my contribution to waking up the administration. I hve some things to write on it.

Yes I'm angry and I'm not going to take it any more!

Cleland Responds to Coulter Attack

Former Sen. Max Cleland defended his military service record Saturday night in response to comments from columnist and television commenter Ann Coulter that accused him of playing up injuries he suffered in the Vietnam War for political gain.

Coulter, in a column published this week, said that Cleland, who lost both legs and an arm in Vietnam, is no war hero, but rather a victim of a tragic, accidental grenade explosion who plays up his amputations for political gain.

35. Good point
Actually Daytona is a fairly democratic area. Lake county a few years ago wanted to mandate teaching creationism in the public schools. Thankfully that idea got shot down in a hurry. I was mostly referring to the 2000 election ballot counting problems. At least Volusia has optical scan ballots that were eventually recounted by hand. I can't imagine the disaster we would have had if touch screen voting had been in use, which is why I support Bev and Andy's BBV efforts.

and dated someone from Plant City once. The difference in the 2 areas is not great but the educational system is much better in Volusia than Lake.

Pinellas where I live has touch screen voting which means I'm going to vote absentee.

38. Destroy Anything That Will Embarrass Commander AWOL
As first reported by the Dallas Morning News, retired National Guard Lt.
Col. Bill Burkett said that, in 1997, Joe Allbaugh (chief of staff for
then-Governor Bush) told the National Guard chief to get the Bush file and
make certain "there's not anything there that will embarrass the governor."
Burkett said that a few days later at Camp Mabry in Austin, he "saw Mr.
Bush's file and documents from it discarded in a trash can."

While the White House has claimed the attack is baseless, Burkett's
credibility was bolstered today after the New York Times reported that he
made his complaint known right after the incident. In 1998, he sent a letter
to a member of the Texas State Senate saying Bush and his aides improperly
reviewed the file to "make sure nothing will embarrass the governor during
his re-election campaign." Burkett repeated in interviews this week that
Bush and his aides "ordered Guard officials to remove damaging information
from Mr. Bush's military personnel files."

Yesterday, the commander of the Alabama unit Bush claimed he served in
during his year-long absence said " never did come to my squad. He was
never at my unit." Additionally, in a signed report, commanding officers in
Houston said Bush "has not been observed." In order to clear up the
controversy, the president would have to follow through on his Sunday pledge
to release all of his records rather than continue stonewalling.

MEMPHIS - Two members of the Air National Guard unit that President George W. Bush allegedly served with as a young Guard flyer in 1972 had been told to expect him and were on the lookout for him. He never showed, however; of that both Bob Mintz and Paul Bishop are certain.

58. "Bush report: Sending jobs overseas helps U.S."
With more than two million jobs lost since President Bush took office,
newspaper headlines across the country told readers of the White House's new
support for the practice of wealthy corporations eliminating U.S. jobs and
shipping them to lower-wage countries. The Seattle Times headline read,
"Bush report: Sending jobs overseas helps U.S." The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
said, "Bush Economic Report Praises 'Outsourcing' Jobs" and the Arizona
Republic said, "Bush Report Lauds 'Outsourcing' Jobs."

And while this may be troubling to the millions in the United States who are
out of work and suffering from stagnating wages, it was celebrated in India,
where thousands of good paying, white-collar U.S. jobs have moved. The
headlines in India read, "Bush Aides: Outsourcing win-win for India." The
story said the Administration believes exporting jobs to India and other
lower-wage countries "is a win-win for both exporter and importer" - failing
to explain how this is a win for American workers who the president just
months ago purported to care about.

65. Commander AWOL Made 50 Policy Changes on Environment
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/4972281.htm

Posted on Sun, Jan. 19, 2003

A handful of his most controversial policies have made headlines, notably his abandonment of an international treaty on global warming, approval of a federal dump for nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain in Nevada and his proposal to drill for oil and gas in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

But Bush's administration has slipped a number of major policy changes under the public's and the media's radar by quietly issuing executive orders that don't require congressional approval, making announcements late on Fridays, rewriting highly technical environmental regulations and muzzling dissent within the administration.

Knight Ridder asked three dozen experts in the environmental-protection and business communities to assess the administration's environmental record at midterm. They cited more than 50 major changes in policy, including: (follow link for complete story if it's still there)

67. Mercury Causes Brain Damage - Dubya to Allow 7 Times More
http://www.nrdc.org/media/pressreleases/031205.asp

Earlier this week NRDC and other environmental groups leaked a draft Environmental Protection Agency proposal that would weaken and delay efforts to clean up mercury emissions from America's coal-fired power plants. Those 1,100 facilities are the largest unregulated industrial sources of mercury contamination in the country. The 50 tons they spew into the air every year amount to roughly 40 percent of total U.S. industrial mercury emissions.

In news stories on the draft proposal, EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt defended it as an emissions trading program similar to the one that has reduced acid rain. A close examination of the draft proposal, however, reveals that by emphasizing a cap-and-trade program, Leavitt was trying to deflect attention from the heart of the proposal: It would downgrade mercury from being regulated as a "hazardous" pollutant to one that requires less stringent pollution controls. By doing so, EPA's "cap" would allow nearly seven times more annual mercury emissions for five times longer than current law. Moreover, an emissions trading program would allow "hot spots" of mercury contamination in the lakes and rivers neighboring the plants that buy pollution credits instead of reducing their mercury emissions.

I had to make a print-out of it. Horrendous amount of wreckage of so much hard work by others to repair previous devastation.

76. I Have A Problem With War Crimes
And I have a problem with the Democratic leader of the Senate kissing up
to Dubya's criminal war built on lies. Another thing, are any of the Democratic candidates, outside of Kucinich, calling for withdrawal from Iraq or holding this administration responsible?

http://www.rapidcityjournal.com/articles/2004/02/20/news/local/news05.prt

Daschle satisfied with war progress

PIERRE - Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., on Thursday praised the Bush administration's war and nation-building work in Iraq and said he has no serious concerns about the lack of weapons of mass destruction.

Daschle told state chamber of commerce representatives meeting in the South Dakota capital that he is satisfied with the way things are going in Iraq.

"I give the effort overall real credit," Daschle said. "It is a good thing Saddam Hussein is no longer in power. It is a good thing we are democratizing the country."

All those Nat'l Guard troops, that are sent over there, can't get lost for a year. Or get an early out. AWOL is important cause Bush is sending these people who signed up for one weekend a month, 2 weeks a year. To 1 yr- 18 mos. of service when he couldn't even muster, his original agreement.

82. Bush Planned Iraq War BEFORE Becoming President
http://www.sundayherald.com/print27735

Bush planned Iraq 'regime change' before becoming President
By Neil Mackay
Sunday Herald - 15 September 2002

A SECRET blueprint for US global domination reveals that President Bush and his cabinet were planning a premeditated attack on Iraq to secure 'regime change' even
before he took power in January 2001.

The blueprint, uncovered by the Sunday Herald, for the creation of a 'global Pax Americana' was drawn up for Dick Cheney (now vice- president), Donald Rumsfeld
(defence secretary), Paul Wolfowitz (Rumsfeld's deputy), George W Bush's younger brother Jeb and Lewis Libby (Cheney's chief of staff). The document, entitled
Rebuilding America's Defences: Strategies, Forces And Resources For A New Century, was written in September 2000 by the neo-conservative think-tank Project for the
New American Century (PNAC).

(If you don't already know about PNAC it's time to find out. The article is still available)

Another great article on PNAC by William Rivers Pitt: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article5103.htm

These criminals, headed by Slick Dick Cheney,
were caught trading with the enemy, and fined

Halliburton had business dealings (during the 90's) in Iraq, Iran, and Libya, which were on
the State Department's list of terrorist states. Cheney made $million helping Saddam sell black market oil. Brown
and Root, a Halliburton subsidiary, was fined $3.8 million for
reexporting U.S. goods to Libya in violation of U.S. sanctions.

Three plastic surgeons are playing golf, and one says, "I once had a patient who had amputated all ten fingers. I worked for 27 hours but I got them all reattached. And today that man can play the piano!"

The next one says, "Boy that's a bad one but I once had a guy who was hit by a train and both legs cut off. It was terrible. I worked with 2 other doctors for three days. And today that man is a running back for the Giants!"

The last one goes, "Yeah, well I once had a patient who was in an accident so bad that all they found was a cowboy hat and forty pounds of horse manure. I had three other doctors and we worked for almost a week, but we were successful and today that man is Whistle-Ass"

After fifteen minutes speaking he says: 'I will now answer
any questions you have.' Bobby stands up and says: 'I have four
questions':

1. How did Bush win the election with fewer votes than
Gore?
2. Why haven't you caught Osama bin Laden?
3. Why are you using the American Patriot Act to limit
civil liberties?
4. Where are the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?

Just then the bell goes and the kids rushed out to
play. Upon returning, Ashcroft said: "I am sorry we were interrupted. I will answer any questions you have.'

A little girl called Julie stands up and says: 'I have
six questions':
1. How did Bush win the election with fewer votes than
Gore?
2. Why haven't you caught Osama bin Laden?
3. Why are you using the American Patriot Act to limit
civil liberties?
4. Where are the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
5. Why did the bell ring twenty minutes early?
6. Where is Bobby?

99. Baghdad Is Bush's Blue Dress
http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=17665

Now, can we talk of impeachment? The rueful admission by former chief U.S. weapons inspector David Kay that Saddam Hussein did not possess weapons of mass destruction or the means to create them at the time of the U.S. invasion confirms the fact that the Bush administration is complicit in arguably the greatest scandal in U.S. history. It's only because the Republicans control both houses of Congress that we hear no calls for a broad-ranging investigation of the type that led to the discovery of Monica Lewinsky's infamous blue dress.

In no previous instance of presidential malfeasance was so much at stake, both in preserving constitutional safeguards and national security. This egregious deception in leading us to war on phony intelligence overshadows those scandals based on greed, such as Teapot Dome during the Harding administration, or those aimed at political opponents, such as Watergate. And the White House continues to dig itself deeper into a hole by denying reality even as its lieutenants one by one find the courage to speak the truth.

The show is almost over, and I didn't get to call in. I went to pick up the phone, and found my son was already on it. So I waited. Patiently. For 40 minutes. He finally got off the phone. And came to talk to me about his current situation. So we talked for 20 minutes, and I tuned back in and went to pick up the phone, only to find that he is using it again. And there are only a few minutes left to go.

Ah, well. It wasn't momentous.
