Small town story hell (GOP land)
these are the types of morons where I live. This guy is a republican, and he is white. Over half the school are black kids, but they have only one black teacher in the whole high school. The whole city council here is republican, and say jesus prayers before every meeting. On purpose now, since someone complained (we have a lot of jewish and muslim people in town, but the GOP controlled city council doesnt care....)
This guy is busted. Sometimes there is a little justice.
I find great glee in that fact. This is the same bunch who had the nerve once to rip out all the pages of a health book in the high school that spoke of birth control. That made the news too.

2. OMG! He's framing students.
I can't believe that freaking prick! A drug conviction can send a kid through hell, not to mention keep him or her from financial aid and future jobs.

And, he's obviously in possession of illegal substances. Not that pot is that big of a deal, but he used them to abuse his position of authority and target students.

14. What's with this attitude of yours?
He was only doing it to kids he thought were guilty of drug dealing. It's not like he was targeting innocent kids or the children of regular churchgoers or anything.

And the principal's not a very good republican, he took responsibility for his actions. bush* could learn a thing or two from him.

But he's a really good person. He's asking for forgiveness now... that he's been caught.

4. Sounds just like 'em
The holier than thou attitude. "I don't use drugs, so I can be in posession in order to bring this kid or any other kid I don't like down to the level where I believe he belongs."
Just like the Iraq war, the end justifies the means.

People like that should never be in charge -- of a nation or of a high school. If they have authority, they can hurt people. The more authority, the more people can be destroyed.

7. I hope it blows the lid off the school
and lawsuits are filed. The high school here is a joke. Its got cameras and fascist rent a cops all over it. Its academia is crap, and the guys who run it are moronic. They like to keep their little crimes secret, and behind closed doors. Not this time.

9. Makes you wonder how often this kind of stuff goes on in the US.
The things that present-day parents expect their children to tolerate would have caused riots 20-30 years ago. I can't imagine my parents or grandparents putting up with this kind of crap.

13. It goes on all the time
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 12:51 PM by JellyBean1
All across America, in schools, in cars police target, in employment. It is widespread and comes from draconian drug laws used by those 'do goody patriots' of our society.

Did anybody else on the board here, sit in the back of the school room. Remember the contempt for those in the front that the school marms just loved?

How about getting shuffled through the shop classes, to be prepared for the stamping plant work? After you serve your turn in the barrel to get shot in the military.

And then after all this, you can bend over as those that sat in the front take their turn with you economically.

Let's add "ILLEGAL" to that.

AH, another republican busted for drugs. I wonder if one their morning prayers was something like "God, please help us score a bag so we can plant it in a students locker, bust him and get him expelled. We are counting on your help Jesus."

11. He should have his teaching and administrative license
removed. I don't know in Michigan who grants licenses (the state dept of ed or another entity), or if they have the power to revoke licenses - but if they don't, they should and this should qualify as grounds to do so.

Death and damnation upon him and all others who destroy people's lives without veritable justification. :grr:

Edit: Well, perhaps that's a bit harsh.

Revised: Hefty jail time and ridicule upon him and all others who destroy people's lives without veritable justification.

17. Hefty jail time is appropriate
This man's actions could have easily destroyed the life of one of his students so I am glad he got caught and I hope he gets a long prison sentence. I also think that the state should investigate Conroy and the school. It is very possible that Conroy has framed students for drug use in the past.

22. The state Atty General should pick this up....
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 05:45 PM by rasputin1952
The Asst Principal, (from what I gather in the story), was in possession of illegal substances. Under Federal Law, the penalties, if convicted, are automatically doubled as this was on school property. the fact that Federal Laws might have been violated as well, should make this man see things in a different light.

That is the first thing.

The planting of evidence is often a felony, depending on state and local laws.

There is much more going on here that needs to be investigated. There are possibilities of this being racially motivated, (caveat: unknown by info given); has this happened before; and what would posses someone to do this in the first place?

Just about the last thing that should happen, is that this be dropped. Parents should be at the school Mon AM and demand that this individual be taken out of the system. the school board needs to be shown that this type of behavior is much more than "unethical", it is criminal. If I were a parent in this school district, I would be on the phone with the DA, state Atty Gen's office, and DEA/FBI. I would not let this lay for a second, and I would demand looking into possible previous incidents this individual may have taken part in.

A possession charge can ruin a kid; bad enough if it was a kid that brought it in. For a school official to do this, is an outrage, and the community should demand that he be fired, his credentials revoked, and criminal charges be pressed. There is NO justification for behavior such as this.

Then come the Civil Lawsuits!

Edited: left out word for clarification of individual

26. Something Else Smells Here
Maybe I missed something, but where did he get those drugs from in the first place? He says "another bust"...and who conducted that bust and when???

In our schools, there's a local officer assigned fulltime to roam around the school...and can only question a student or seach a locker when given permission from the school's principal. He has access to drug sniffing dogs at the local police station three blocks away. If there was someone suspected of drugs (and it happens here far too often these days), the teacher or assistant or whomever goes to the principal who calls the smokie who then springs into action. Never does any school personnel get involved in bust, or non-bust, except for signing the complaint if drugs are found.

If this "assistant" principal confiscated drugs on his own and didn't contact police, he's impersonating an officer, no? Also his not calling local police when the drugs were discovered also means he was obstructing justice. The legal possibilities here boggle.

Mari...I'd get on the phone to a large city news department...Chicago or Detroit or Cleveland and get to know an investigative reporter or two...this would make good film at 11.
