Is this a real Bush quote?
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 01:50 AM by wtf
George W. Bush to the Palestinian Prime Minister:"God told me to strike at al Qaeda and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you can help me, I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them."

3. thanks for the link!
One of the most meaningful things that's happened to me since I've been the governor -- the President -- governor -- President. Oops. Ex-governor. I went to Bethesda Naval Hospital to give a fellow a Purple Heart, and at the same moment I watched him -- get a Purple Heart for action in Iraq -- and at that same -- right after I gave him the Purple Heart, he was sworn in as a citizen of the United States -- a Mexican citizen, now a United States citizen.

5. with two you get audio
"It is a...it is a...the people have gotta understand...the Iraqi people have gotta understand...that anytime you got a group of killers willing to kill innocent Iraqis...that um...their future, uh, must not be determined by these kind of killers. That's what they've got to understand. I think they do understand that. That's what th... It's in the interests of...uh...long term peace in the world that we, uh, work for a free and secure and peaceful Iraq. A peance freeance secure Iraq in the midst of the middle east will have enormous historical impact."

4. Possibly - although the exact words may be off
Its a paraphrase of what Abu Mazen says Bush told him in a private meeting in Aqaba, Jordan, as quoted in Haaretz's June 25, 2003 online edition. I see no reason to disbelieve the authenticity of that quote, but it does not appear to have been printed verbatim.

6. thanks for the extra info, mobuto!
It was amazing I won. I was running against peace and prosperity and incumbency.

Kerry or Edwards entire campaign should just be * quotes.

7. ok, one more...
JENNINGS: Back in October 1998, you told David Broder of The Washington Post you felt like a cork in a raging river.
DUBYA: Yes. I think that was part of all the speculation and the swirl around whether I would run or not. There was kind of a momentum beyond -- beyond being the governor I guess is the best way to describe it. And I don't feel like a cork in a raging river now. I feel like -- something bigger than a cork.

9. He is a CONFUSED and BEWILDERED person.
He is asking us to believe HIM?? Not when he is a confused guy who mangles the English language giving us a picture of his INSTABILITY.

10. I recall a recent article that pointed out that this statement was
translated and then retranslated so the exact words may not be accurate. I have always thought that Bush probably used the word "smite" when speaking to Abu Mazen. Bush has told many people. including friends, Cabinet members and other foreign leaders, that he was chosen by his god to be president so that he could lead the War on Terra.
