Poll question: Will you initiate ten new voters?
According to the user registration counts, there are currently 39897 members of DU. Quite impressive, no? Well, as we are all here working toward the common goal of electing Democrats to office, I was thinking of an idea. If ALL of the DUers out there were to initiate ten new (obviously Democratic) voters, we'd have 398,970 new voters out there. This number is larger than Bush's 2000 victories in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virgiania, West Virginia, and Wyoming-Every state in the union but one. Just think what Democrats could do with those kinds of new voters.

So, what is the poll? It's more of a pledge, really, a pledge to initiate ten voters to vote for Democrats (school them on the issues and get them to the polls) in 2004 (and hopefully beyond). And for those of you who have already initiated ten new voters (I know there are many out there)-thank you and keep up the good work.

3. I am more than half way there...
I have virally infected the 20 year old son of my significant other. Through him I have helped at least 8 of his friends to realize that their vote is important and that they need to at the very least vote. Many of them have gone and actually gotten involved in campaigning for their favorite candidate!

It was fairly easy too. All I had to do was point out several issues that affect them and voila!, new voters!

I did this same thing last presidential race with his older brother, who is now actually a poli-sci major at a University in Louisiana.
