Young Republicans "killed off" Wellstone - Ha Ha
Rolly and Wells: Rally has odd
sense of humor

Paul Rolly and JoAnn
Jacobsen-Wells
Salt Lake Tribune Columnists

During a Feb. 5
meet-the-candidate night for the
newly formed College
Republicans U. chapter -- not to
be confused with the older and
more established College
Republicans -- representatives
for several candidates revved up
the jovial crowd with such
statements as "We need to put an
end to the liberal Matheson era"
and support "the Democrat killers."
As the audience giggled off and on, Mike Clement, representing
congressional candidate Tim Bridgewater, spoke excitedly about
Republican successes when College Republicans work hard, citing the
victory of Norm Coleman in the 2002 U.S. Senate race in Minnesota.
As Clement bantered with the audience, one Republican gadfly noted
that they defeated former Vice President Walter Mondale in that race,
adding: "We had to kill off Wellstone to get it." He was referring to the
death in a plane crash of Sen. Paul Wellstone and his family before the
election.

2. Don't let it bother you!
They were just kidding! Have you no sense of humor you liberal!?
/sarcasm

They are animals and every bit of their baser natures are being encouraged by the government and the press at this moment in time. Watch, now that this is in the news, they will back off and say someone was "misunderstood" or that sonny-boy here said a "regretable and inappropriate remark in his excitement"

You know the drill....the bottom line is that since 1980 every base instinct has been appealed to by the GOP and ever fool has been given a platform from which to bully others.

3. Yes, they ARE animals and I'm glad I don't live in Minnesota.
Because if I EVER saw a car with the bumper sticker "He's Dead. Get Over It." I do not know what I would do, but it would be guaranteed to get me into trouble!

 :grr: :grr: :argh: :grr:

(nothing against Minnesota or Minnesotans themselves, both of whom I am very fond in general, having been to Minnesota and lived in Montana for many years)

6. One of my cow-orkers has that bumpersticker!
I DO live in MN, and one of my cow-orkers has that "He's Dead, Get Over It" bumperstickers on their car. Right next to the Jesus fish. Nice.

First time I saw it I had a real urge to do something nasty to their car, but I decided it wouldn't reflect well on Wellstone and what he stood for. But it still pisses me off to see it. Asshole.

9. my god
...how hateful. I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy.

How can these people continue to be so nasty and still get as many votes as they do? Is half the country that mean-spirited?

They have falsely magnified their presence and influence through propaganda, and outright fraud.

Many of us have come to realize that you cannot be Mr. Nice Guy when battling Totalitarian Monsters and Programmed Automatons.

10. See what I mean, Love Bug?
My thought: Sometimes it's good to follow your urges.

Paul might not have approved, but now that he's dead and (if the Judeo-Christian thing is close to true or true) now he knows EXACTLY WHO AND WHAT killed himself, his wife, his sons, and their friends...

...perhaps he would agree.

I probably shouldn't be saying these things but there you have it.

My 2 cents.

If you do decide to "follow your urges" (whatever those urges might be, I don't know what they might be myself but am making a generic statement) be smart, stealthy and careful.

19. Actually, it killed him, his wife,
his daughter, and several close campaign workers and friends, his sons are still very much alive and were responsible for the founding of Wellstone Action last year.

I live in MN. Maybe you should take a permanent marker to it.
and write on the sticker "I did it" and my friends did it
Is it just me or what do you think. Are conservatives here just really pinched uptight? Their faces are just pinched and the pompous attitude is out there.

17. Almost sounds like he's saying "get over" Jesus?
Putting "He's Dead, Get Over It" next to a Jesus fish seems like a pretty atheist thing to do... I'm sure your cow-orker doesn't grasp the irony, however.

18. OMFG, do they actually have
a bumpersticker that says that in MN? Jesus H. Christ, how sick can you get? What a bunch of ungrateful bastards, if it hadn't been for Wellstone, their lives in MN would have been a helluva lot bleaker.

And if they can have THAT bumpersticker, then I want one that says "He's dead, and I'll get over it when I'M dead!"

4. Grrrr!!! I want to draft these kids into the military!
Surely, these young "patriots" will not resist when their president brings back the draft, right?

Anyhoo, heaven help the liberal Democrat who dares to make a joke about Ronald Reagan when he kicks off. These guys will go into full insane asylum mode to protect their hero from criticism.

Everywhere.

We are indeed a sick society, and nobody seems to want to come to grips with that fact.

set the tone has not observed the coarsening and dumbing down and worsening of American manners and attitudes in the past twenty years since the Reaganites took charge.

13. So true, Kanary....the sickest among us have the reins of government
and their baseness, hatred and ignorance are strutted about in such an arrogant manner that they're creating a living environment that is totally repugnant to the "good people" in the world. Other nations see what is happening here, too.

But...that's what you'll have when a bunch of low-lifes own the media in the largest commercial culture in the world...it spreads like gangrene into healthy tissue. And it STINKS every bit as much as gangrenous tissue (worse than death).

This Wellstone issue is beyond hurtful to those who actually have a heart in their chest.

20. Here's an email I sent the columnists. Sit there and stew, or do something
Dear folks,

I read your column of Friday, February 20th, and I'm just stunned. These people appear to be admitting to murder, talking about how they had to kill Paul Wellstone and his family. And then they laughed about it. I'd love to see what happens when they share their sense of "humor" at the Pearly Gates. I'm guessing their express elevator ticket for the opposite direction has already been prepared. Is anyone investigating these people for possible murder or attempted murder charges? They should be. I'm saving this link, and sending it EVERYWHERE.

Uh, folks, do we need to be hit on the head with a 2x4? Has anyone contacted the state attorney general about this?

You can start by emailing the columnists at the VERY least:

rolly_wells@sltrib.com.

Also, FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING, call Congress - FREE:

1 (800) 839 - 5276 - it's a switchboard number where they transfer you, free, to anybody's office in the House and/or Senate. PLEASE, folks, let's not JUST read about this and get mad.
