Poll question: 2000 Nader Voters: The man or the message?
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 03:25 PM by eyesroll
I voted for Gore in 2000. I wasn't enamored with him, but I felt he was the best of the choices I was given, Nader included. (Well, I didn't really research the guy running on the Constitution Party ticket.)

But the whole Nader-running-again thing got me wondering: Did people like Nader the man (his consumer-rights history), Nader the platform (Green); or Nader the "message" (for lack of a better term -- sending a message to the Democrats that the left shouldn't be taken for granted).

So, with that in mind: If you voted for Nader in 2000, what was your primary reason?

the need for a viable progressive third party, the need to break the "country club" "old boy" two party strangle hold, the need for a healthy democracy.

3. most folks I know
who supported Nader desperately want a viable third party and the Green platform is outstanding.

perhaps some of us should hit the democrat forums and convince the people there to vote for Nader when the presidential race starts. Encourage the far left dems that haven't made up their mind to vote for him so we can split their vote.

6. Are you sorry you voted for Nader?
I didn't vote vor him, but I really liked his message. He even had me convinced that there was little to no difference between the 2 major parties.

I now realize he was WRONG!

I didn't like Gore very much, but he would have been a LOT BETTER than what we've got now!
