Two more rumors in the Governor "Goodhair" Perry situation..

1. I'm just passing along what I'm seeing on this. It is still just an unsubstantiated rumor. I heard that CNN called the TDP office last week about it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Latest dirt from datalounge.com/

The latest Gov. Rick Perry dish

This is firsthand news from a well-connected lawyer I know in Austin:

--Anita Perry has hired Becky Beaver, the most notorious ballbreaker divorce attorney in Austin, to represent her. She will be filing for divorce on grounds of adultery, naturally.

--Sec. of State Jeff Connor (Gov. Perry's lover) used to work at Akin Gump (very large law firm) and was well-known among his colleagues as being gay. They were surprised that Perry picked him for the position given his sexual orientation, in fact. Now, of course, they understand why.

2. We got a call from Austin ... Perry is resigning .... has anyone
else heard this??? Source is credible.

My Two Cents -- If everything in the overall rumor story is true, Perry would HAVE to resign. There is no way that the Bushistas could allow him to stay in office and keep using the anti-gay platform for the general election.

1. "he'll be spending more time....
'healing' his marriage" at least that is the "spin" I just got when I dialed up *my* Austin friend. BTW, he hadn't heard this yet from anyone *he* personally trusts but the rumor is out there he confirms. And, this could *indeed* be (as he said): "spun to take any of the potential fire out of it---his marriage is in trouble, he's a good man going to spend more time with the wife and kiddies..."

Basically, as this very very well placed professional politico says: He not only can go out on his own terms but defuse any "Anita problems" and kill any rumors"

Well, we shall see. This source said that he still believes that Mrs. Perry will "understand" it is in her own best interests to shut up.

Its an ugly world. But this latest has provoked him to "poke around up at the capitol building and see what's in the air today..."

2. I don't know if he'd be able to leave on his own terms..

The press will want to know why. And if they already have a whiff of scandal, this one could sell an AWFUL lot of newspapers.

4. Fundies love sex scandals
lets just see if they love it when it is one of their own.

The press also loves sex scandals, it makes for good ratings. :puke:

However, that is some pretty specific information. I guess Drudge had specifics too and it didn't amount to anything. I am not yet holding my breath for any truth to this but I must admit, I like the idea of the hypocrisy being exposed.

5. My guess is that many very rich Repub Texans
are speaking to Mrs. Goodhair and offering her a very nice retirement package if she can remain husband and wife for several more years...

22. You mean like Jeb's wife
Their marriage has been on the rocks for years They don't even live together. I wonder how much she's being paid, but how long can it last? The years are going by and she's not getting any younger. And now * may screw Brother Jeb out of the White House.

6. Akin, Gump? -- that names rings a bell
http://www.truthout.org/docs_01/12.17C.Saudi.Friends.htm

A powerful Washington, D.C., law firm with unusually close ties to the White House has earned hefty fees representing controversial Saudi billionaires as well as a Texas-based Islamic charity fingered last week as a terrorist front.

The influential law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld has represented three wealthy Saudi businessmen - Khalid bin Mahfouz, Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi and Salah Idris - who have been scrutinized by U.S. authorities for possible involvement in financing Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network.

Partners at Akin, Gump include one of President Bush's closest Texas friends, James C. Langdon, and George R. Salem, a Bush fund-raiser who chaired his 2000 campaign's outreach to Arab-Americans.

<snip>

In addition to the royal family, the firm's Saudi clients have included bin Mahfouz, who hired Akin, Gump when he was indicted in the BCCI banking scandal in the early 1990s. A bin Mahfouz business partner, Al-Amoudi, was also represented by Akin, Gump. Akin, Gump partner and Bush fund-raiser Salem led the legal team that defended Idris, a banking protege of bin Mahfouz and the owner of El-Shifa, the Sudanese pharmaceutical plant destroyed by U.S. cruise missiles in August 1998.

7. If he can be recruited from the dark side (being republican, not gay)
this could be a coup for the Dems. Imagine if he comes "out", apologizes to his wife and kids (for the lies, not being gay) and says he will fight FOR gay marriage and has found support among the those empathetic to his predicamaent(soon to be attacked by repukes, not being openly gay) and as such is joining the democratic party!

What would happen in Texas?

I think he would get quite a bit of sympathy nationwide, but would he be lynched in texas?

8. You ain't from Texas, are you?

He's ruined completely if these allegations are true. No way would the Texas Dems take him in, he's burnt too many bridges.

And the fundamentalist whackos would be after him with a noose.

14. Sheeet! We don' want 'im!
Besides, he's incompetent, a jerk and sure would not draw any votes!
He'll be lucky to get out of the state alive given some of our more hysterical anti-gay nuts.

Of course, like my neighbor, they tend to believe that some things just "can't be!" Unless, its a Democrat.

9. I don't want him. He's displayed such a stunning lack of leadership
since he's been in office. If the rumors are true, he's finished as a member of state government.

No I'm not from texas. I figured the surface feeling would be eff this guy, but my theory was to "use" this guy as a reverse wedge.

After all, if it is true, he appointed his lover as Sec. of State, right? That HAS to be impeachable.

of course Carol Keeton rylander smith jones whatever her name is this week has that avaricious gleam in her eye---that is what told me on Monday that *something* was up.

She's a piece of work alright. But Dewhurst...I have to go bathe now that I have typed that name

16. Good news for Texans
I hope this turns out to be true and you get rid of the guy.

I would have no problem at all with Gov. Goodhair being gay, (frankly, I think he and the alleged paramour make a kind of cute couple :spank:) however, I would have a big problem with him being a hypocrite and an adulterer.

Hey, the Republicans set the standard on this issue. If Bill Clinton doesn't get to have side action and lie about it, neither does Rick Perry. We didn't make the rules, did we?

Oh, and I just have to say: Becky Beaver???? How could a little girl with that name NOT grow up to be a ball breaker?

not for a second. Hardly likely that its coincidence.

I'm guessing that this is a prelude to a regretful resignation for health reasons. Any takers for that bet?

28. No, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst is a Republican.
And as such, he scheduled the continuing fight over redistricting, over and over, until they were able to have a quarum and ram it down our throats.

30. You think so? I'm not totally convinced.
I thought at first that he tried to back off of calling the special sessions, but he did it anyway. I also thought he was trying to be more moderate about cutting kids off CHIPs in the budget, but maybe I'm hearing propaganda.
Isn't DD in the closet?

GOPIsEvil, do you ever visit the political forum ar TexAgs.com? Pretty rank over there. I checked it other day for a hint about Perry and saw nothing; couldn't wait to log off. I wonder how his former corp. group would react if this is true.
