New Colorado Law Bans Talk of Homosexuality
Introduced in the Colorado Legislature this week. HB 1375, introduced by RWer Shawn Mitchell of Broomfield, reduces any talk of homosexuality in schools to talk of sexually transmitted diseases:

Bill Summary
Note: This summary applies to this bill as introduced and does not necessarily reflect any amendments that may be subsequently adopted.)

Prohibits a school district from providing instruction relating to sexual lifestyles that are alternative to heterosexual relationships, except in the context of instruction concerning the risk and prevention of sexually transmitted disease.

_____

Probably completely unconstitutional, but good for raising dough in a fundraising letter.

3. "instruction relating to sexual lifestyles"
Wow, I missed that when I was in school. Was anyone else given instruction relating to sexual lifestyles? Are they offering "How to be a Swinger" courses in public schools now? Cuz that's what "sexual lifestyle" means to me.

4. To our RWers, talking about "sexual lifestyle" means . . .
. . . mentioning the word "homosexual" without prefacing it with "depraved."

One thing I'm concerned about with this bill is whether it would mean the Gay/Straight Alliances that have been formed would have to disband?

6. He's going to be in the same boat as Thurmond.
50 years (hopefully sooner) from now, people are going to look back at such ridiculous talking points and legislation attempts and shake their heads in disbelief.

Hopefully, people will look upon opponents of gay rights the same way we look upon opponents of equal rights for blacks.
