OK, Nader was right about one thing.
There is ONLY ONE PARTY in this country. It is the party of the corporate contributors.
They killed the campaign of the only candidate with any potential for changing the way america works politiacally. They did it by ridicule in the media. They did it by not taking the large mass of people who supported him seriously. And they did it intentionally.
Now Kerry seems to be the annointed one. And of course I'll support the nominee of the party in a ABB kind of way. But something in the back of my mind keeps saying that he is just another part of the establishment adn as such he will make no huge changes to the system. Oh, sure, like clinton he will make some 'feel good' shifts in the way we handle some things, but there will be no banning of campaign contributions. There will be no Fairness Doctrine reinstated. And there will be no removal of "corporate personhood".
These are the three things that are absolutely necessary in order that america be returned to the people. The main problem in my mind is the doctrine of "corporate personhood". If this could be rescinded, most of our other problems would fade away. Everything else hinges on this. But the corporations now have so much power that it will never happen as long as politicians must rely on corporate contributions to run for office.
That's why I say that Kerry cant make any meaningfull changes. He, like the rest of them, is dependant on corporate bribes.
To those who are hoping for change from within the party, there is a new think tank working for democrats. It's called the Center for American Progress. Sounds like a progressive group, right? But according to the Nation, it's just another DLC clone group. So once again we see the establishment setting the tone, and no changes will be made.
So what will happed if there are no changes to bring our gov't back to responsiveness to the people? Well, it sure seems like things will continue on the same lines that they have for the past four years. Passage of Patriot II, more of the tax burden falling on the middle class, more corporate control of gov't until main function of government will be to privatize every former gov't function until corporations are given more profits on the backs of the taxpayers.
In my opinion there can be only one outcome of this thought experiment, and that is a word we are hearing more of lately: revolution. And I think that it will start with individualized anger, or the applying of 'executive sanctions' to those CEOs who are most responsible for the fall of the USA, and it will spread from there.
*****A Note to Moderators and any MIBs monitoring ****** I am in no way advocating violence. I have seen too much of it to think that violence is a viable solution to anything. But lets face facts, violence has become the american way of problem solution. ******************************************************************
So please tell me I'm wrong. In this case I don't want to be right.
