I admit, I know nothing about single-payer health care
Could someone direct me to sites discussing the pros and cons of single-payer healthcare?

I'm doing some Googling, but not finding much info.

1. Short version: if you get sick, you can go to the doctor even if you don't

have any money.

2. I understand that theoretical aspect
I meant details of how it works. The best I can find is a single-pyaer advocate site that has a short explaination.

5. This page outlines the basics nicely
It's from a pro-UHC stance, but the disadvantages are pretty accurate too.

3. A Step Toward an Equitable Health Care System
HRC, with Ira Magaziner, developed a model health care system during the Clinton admistration.

This system keeps funding within the health care system. Right not health care is a cash cow for the insurance industry, with patients getting the short end of the stick.

4. Physiacians for a National Health Plan

Here's another:

This one works more at the grassroots level:
http://www.uhcan.org/

The most active organization, really:
http://www.amsa.org/

For the "anti" argument, just call or visit your local health insurer. If you hadn't guessed, I am an active supporter of the National Health Plan.
