Carl Levin is very careful to quote Condi

every time he mentions that "bowels of the administration" line. He doesn't endorse that view himself--he's using Condi's words in a very precised way to hang her. Malloy has played those tapes several times tonight, and you can hear what he's doing if you listen with yuour mind on what you're hearing. Malloy is barking up the wrong tree on this one.

5. Yeah. He's bashing Levin pretty hard

for not having the guts to call Bush a liar. Malloy is interpreting Levin as going along with the buck-passing. I think Levin's just refusing to editorialize on what he really thinks, hoping to get an investigation going that will speak for itself. He's also implicitly pressuring the intel types to defend themselves.

I just posted this thought in another thread. I saw him on TV with this today and it was real evident to me. He said it very deliberately, with a sort of now-let-me-get-this-right way about him--reading the quote in whole and in part at other times.

This is what will bring them down. Them running off at the mouth with their lies. The only thing that shocks me is that they seemed to believe they could just do it all the time, forever and get away with it.

I just wish I could be a fly on the wall where ever Rove is. heh heh
