Just got back from a County Dem Party Meeting
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 11:32 PM by ewagner
Learned a lot.

The Repubs have a majority in both the Assembly and Senate here and they are ramming things down our throats a la Delay is doing in Washington. They are in full attack mode and well-financed. Governor Doyle has to govern by veto and hope to hell it sticks.

even though our primary was just last Tuesday, we still ahve caucauses to attend to pick delegates to the convention. This should actually be a lot of fun. I have no hope whatso ever of going to the National Convention, but I might make it to the state nominating convention.

The party meeting had about twice as many people than normal. I guess the primaries got people fired up. The Dean supporters are disappointed but still loyal. Edwards seems to have a pretty good following among those present tonight.

It's going to be World War III for our local Assembly rep in the fall. The Repubs are targeting her even though she voted with them on the concealed carry law.....something which didn't make our local democrats too happy. She also mentioned that she has been excommunicated from her church becasue of her "choice" stand and that the homily given by her priest excoriated her and said something like (paraphrase) "...you say you're standing up for the constitution but how much will your constitution help you when you're standing in judgement before god?....." Chapter and verse coming out of the WH.

Oh well, so much for the News from Lake Wobegon.....Wisconsin chapter.
