Pennsylvania might be a senate seat we should leave to the GOP...
If Specter is the nominee that is. I've read that he is next in line for Judiciary Committe Chair after Orrin Crotch, I mean Hatch, leaves. Should the Senate remain in GOP hands and Bush remains president, this could save us from right wing extremeist nominees or better yet help us get our nominees through if we get a dem president. Thoughts?

3. Specter has moved to the right
Specter is facing a challenge in the primary by Pat Toomey, an extreme right wing congressman. Word is that Toomey is getting money from Tom Delay to run against Specter because Specter is too moderate.

Specter has struck some type of deal with Bush & Cheney because Cheney has come to PA to fund raise for Specter, and Specter has since then voted straight along the party line.

So, I wouldn't count on Specter as being much of an improvement over Orin Hatch. I think Specter has completely sold his soul to the devil. Besides I'll never forgive him for Anita Hill.

4. No we shouldn't....
If we defeat Specter, Leahy has a better chance of chairing Senate Judiciary.

5. I absolutely disagree with that! Democrats have a deficit in the number
of seats that it can competitively look forward to win relatively easily in the coming election and Democrats should fight for every seat in contest and attempt to win every and all possible seats that can be won. Maybe, just maybe we will come out eventually in control of one or both houses of congress.

9. Last night I saw an ad bashing Spector...
citing the percentage of times he voted the same as Kerry. The ad intones, "Spector is too liberal". Immediately following that was an ad featuring Santorum supporting Spector's re-election. I would think that anyone even slightly left of center that may have been considering voting for Spector would be turned off by that.
