A Dispatch From The Enemy Camp
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 01:06 AM by The Magistrate
Received under the title: "Hold Republicans Accountable To Conservative Principles"

“President Bush — and Washington politicians generally — have been acting in recent years as though voters do not care about profligate spending.” – National Review, 2/5/2004

Dear Friend,

Conservatives have watched while Republican leaders in Washington have turned their backs on conservative principles – expanding government faster than the Democrats ever did.

No longer can we simply watch.

The latest instance of this conservative betrayal – President Bush has proposed increasing funding for the National Endowment for the Arts by more than $18 million dollars – has left me with no option but to ask conservatives to join me in holding these Republicans accountable.

For years, conservatives have fought to eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts, rightly making the case that it represents a waste of our taxpayer money to fund the so-called arts.

Is this what passes for conservative leadership in Washington? Retreating from the principle of shrinking government in favor of expanding the welfare state in epic proportions?

I’ve launched an exciting new website – WashingtonRepublicans.Net. With your help, we’ll let Republican leadership in Washington know that enough is enough!

Click here to join the effort to take back our party. You’ll get all the tools you need to let those Washington politicians know what the conservative grassroots really thinks.

If the GOP expects our support, then conservatives should expect the GOP to provide conservative leadership.

What you can do, right now:

•     Our first project is to let Republicans in Congress and the White House know that we won’t stand for proposals taking tax dollars from Americans and spending it on the worst “art” this country has ever seen. Click here to tell them, “stop expanding government at our expense!”
•     Click here to invite your friends to participate.

Sincerely,

Richard Viguerie

P.S. The Internet does not belong to Howard Dean and MoveOn.org alone. If they can pull their party to the far left, you and I can pull our party back to Ronald Reagan – at least. Click here to join me.

Everybody has problems, eh?

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

1. I love this part:
"If they can pull their party to the far left, you and I can pull our party back to Ronald Reagan – at least."

4. Considering every progressive move by Shrub...
...has been a CON-job or just an outright lie..the clear skies inititive, spending money on hydrogen power (which will actually give money to Big Oil and make more pollution), no child left behind, corporate reform... it's like he and his cronies can't even speak about doing anything worthwhile without working over time to somehow corrupt it.

Shrub isn't moving his party to the left. He's a perfect example of modern conservatism...say anything and do what you want when no one is looking becuase the only thing that matter is to win. The majority of the repubs made that an acceptable attitude by making up crap about political enemies and then blatently breaking thier own "morals" when it suited them. and they are the ones that pioneered the idea that policy is all about selling an image, not what effect that policy may actually have.
And hasn't Shrub done exactly what modern conservatives say they want to see happen? I'm talking about starving the government 'social programs" until the idea that government can actually help anybody who isn't already paying a lobbyist becomes a myth.

shrub is every bit a modern Conservative. it's not the left's fault modern conservatism is built on self serving hypocrasy.

Our fault that we let the dems follow in the repubs footsteps too often. But this wasn't a monter we created.

they want to save thie party, they need to stop looking at Reagan (who was Shrub's spiritual mentor) but Eisenhower or TR.

Oh, and I especially like that of al lthe scandles and pork and hand outs done by the Shrubbies, the one that this guy thinks is unforgivable is 18 million dollers to help kids realize that there's more to art then janet jackson's boob.

Sorry but I have gotton so tired of these idiots.

rant end...

2. Is Richard Viguerie still around?
Or is this just from the computer-generated ether populated by ghosts of Raygun's reign?

:)

5. Gee, if $18 million in funding arts is bad, how about $145 million
we spend to advertise against smoking marijuana?
