Dennis Miller: Bush and Cheney are in a room together all day
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 01:01 AM by dennis4868
Tonight on his low rated show Dennis Miller stated during his roundtable discussion that Bush and Cheney are in a room together all day long working hard to protect us from terrorism. When I heard this I did not know if I should laugh or cry. Where does this guy get his information from for crying out loud? Does any objective and rational person truly believe that Bush and Cheney are working 24/7 to protect us? Bush is fundraising and Cheney is doing all he can to keep Halliburton out of the news and make sure theit stock looks good to his investors. Sheeeesh....what a complete IDIOT!

6. Question: What DOES Cheney Do?
Is he involved in any commissions? Does he chair any committees? He doesn't even do funerals...especially those of the young men and women he's sent to their deaths.

Anyone know what this guy does other than shoot ducks and the bull with Fat Tony?

with his heart hooked up to a generator. If he must leave the room, a cattle prod is inserted up his ass should he require a jump start.

23. Who was in charge of anti-terror on Sept 11 2001?
None other than Unka Dick. His Chimperial Highness decreed this in May 2001. He assured us that Unka Dick's laser-like focus on anti-terrorism would protect us. Isn't it funny that no one ever mentions this? Why does Dick get off the hook on this one?

Funny how Unka Dick, and Condi, and others, totally missed on all that chatter in the summer of 2001 leading up to the attack on our nation. Intelligence was screaming for them to take some kind of action, and they did not.

But in answer to your question -- Unka Dick does more than go duck-hunting and planning World Domination -- he also is a very energetic fund-raiser.

How anyone can hold this administration up as some sort of great achievement is utterly baffling.

9. What is the deal with comedians seriously discussing politics?
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 01:51 AM by Woodstock
Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn is dreary, too. These people need to get over themselves.

I can't miss a minute of The Daily Show - hey, Jon Stewart is one of a kind, and the writing on that show, not to mention the performances of the supporting cast, makes for the best news show around and the best laughs on TV.

But the INSTANT it's over I dive for the remote and get Colin Quinn off the tube before he spouts out one stupid pompous ufailingly unfunny word.

19. it's the macho resurgence
I knew Bush getting elected would validate this aggressive, bullying sort of politics.

The same thing happened under Reagan. The general culture took a nasty turn. Suddenly it's cool to be a hateful, bitter bully again.

25. Gotta Be The Toughest Nut In The Tree
Quinn's like the morans you see on the Sports yak channels/shows that generally are letting Uncle Jack or Budweiser do the talking. The "charm" is these are "regular guys" talking about "regular things" and if you don't think its hip or funny then you're obviously metally constipated.

Lately I give Letterman and Conan high marks on their satire and the barbed shots they've taken at this regime. Dave put a spliced bit of * calling Chenney everything short of a war criminal...it was supposedly a "doctored edit", but doctored or not, it spoke a lot more truth than all the speeches this regime have given.

Stewart gets better and better...as do others on the show...Coulbert never misses and I end up watching the show twice (sometimes three) to pick up on things I missed earlier.

Oh, yes, I'd be remiss to mention Mr. Miller's Neighborhood on CorruptNBC...that's definitely fun to watch as he twists in the wind. This show is moving to cable access bad in a hurry.

Working 24/7?! First ya gotta dig Cheney out of his spiderhole. Then you gotta wake the chimp. That is if he's not on vacation. This is the most vacationing president ever. Working? Just what does he do anyway?

12. D.M. show is beyond pathetic
After each one of his lame jokes, there's always some moron in the studio who laughs at his jokes. Kind of like an Ed McMahon. That and the monkey make me laugh. He such a pathetic shill.

15. I am convinced that Miller's right wing turn is the result of failure.
The more he fails, the more bitter and right wing he becomes.

I saw Miller do stand up in 93 or 94. Right after his failed Fox talk show. He spend have his routine ranting about how people had made fun of Admiral John Stockdale (Ross Perot's 1992 running mate), but you could tell that he was talking about himself. The failure of his fox show left him very bitter. I am guessing that his failure on MNF exacerbated his downward spiral and if his current show tanks, he will become a full on Rush Limbaugh.

20. Best argument of what happened to DM is post tramatic stress disorder
A psychologist friend of mine who also happens to be a major TV addict claims she saw Dennis on the show before and after 9/11. The difference between the 2 shows was dramatic. Dennis lives in New York. 9/11 hit him hard. He has lost his political compass and is in unknown land. Yet he is profressionally a comedian. Unfortunately for him comedy does not work as well from the conservative angle. And he has fallen for the notion that security is synonomous with conservatives.

His humor comes across now as one reading from a playlist handed to him. He is newly converted and simply does not know the beat for the new track he finds himself on. He is scared.

Can't watch more than 10 minutes of his chimp show. Just trying to understand him. Emotions hit people in different ways. He appears to have wigged out instead of dealing with it.

22. Wow, one of two things have happened to Dennis Miller
He either was completely scared out of his mind, and he completely believes that Bush is somehow keeping us safer (notice how everything that ends up benifiting Bush can be traced to 9/11?)

or

He sold out like crazy, and in his contract he gets $1,000 for every lie he tells without laughing.

24. Well, I've got news for Dennis Miller, and EVERYBODY else who says
"9/11 changed everything." If they say that, they are formally, officially declaring that the terrorists won.

The terrorists, if I'm not mistaken, and Osama in particular, wanted to change and throw to the dogs everything that is America. Probably like our liberty, our freedom of speech and of movement, our government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE. Our feelings of security. Our general feelings of community with the rest of the world. The way we do business. Yep, all that's changed. And to glory in it, as he does, is admitting that Osama won. Osama DID get what he wanted. America is now totally different. Specifically because of the way we reacted. That's the really pathetic part. WE enabled Osama. WE made those changes voluntarily, in reaction to 9/11. We numbed out and handed everything over to a dictatorship that didn't hesitate for an instant to exploit this for its own gain. (WE, by the way, NOT including people here at DU, and other enlightened, informed, clear-thinking ones). We changed ourselves in response to 9/11. And Osama's probably laughing every day. Because WE did his heavy lifting for him.
