What a surprise..."White House downplays job predictions"
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/18/elec04.prez.bush.jobs.ap/index.html

"The White House backed away Wednesday from its own prediction that the economy will add 2.6 million new jobs before the end of this year, saying the forecast was the work of number-crunchers and that President Bush was not a statistician."

snip

"Asked about the 2.6 million jobs forecast, McClellan said, "The president is interested in actual jobs being created rather than economic modeling."

He quoted Bush as saying, "I'm not a statistician. I'm not a predictor."

"We are interested in reality," McClellan said.

1. I wonder why
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 07:29 PM by Marianne
the question now is why.

They have stuck with all of the lies before this for the past three years, now they see fit to retract and backtrack on the lies and I ask why?

Could it be now that there are those out there who would take them to task like Kerry, and previously, the one who was not afraid to tread in those waters, Gov. Dean?

It is no longer a free run here now that we have someone who gets into print in the main media.

Can't lie with impunity anymore, George--or Karl--or Condi--or Colin--or Laura--or wolfowitz--or Perle--or Rumsfeld-or any of them. :bounce:

4. I think if they are backing off this lie it's because the real numbers
probably look terrible. They are not prone to backing off, despite their critics. I bet we will be under 100,000 jobs a month if he is backing off.

2. blame his bad economics on his economic advisors
blame his preemptive war on his Intelligence advisors
blame his lack of service on bad records
blame his shoddy treatment of our allies on our allies.

all of these after initial denials...a pattern?

Remenber how they predicted all the growth from the tax cuts? Remember when he predicted the WMD's in Iraq? Remember when he predicted that he would be a uniter?
