TENET's speech had a bizarre quality: After months/years of upper echelon clamoring for his head, he surfaced with a cocky, in-your-face speech, the key point of which was that he personally briefs Shrub 6 days per week and has this chummy relationship with him. Later, Shrub puts out yet another ringing endorsement of him. Hmmm, shades of J.E.HOOVER, in whatever levels of meaning THAT might have----blackmail over the buried bodies, a preppy camaraderie, heck, a mutual affinity.....who knows.

I think Buchanan's piece about the neocons may have scared them. Buchanan is giving the Bush leadership an out as far as "the neocons fooled Bush, Bush isn't to blame". If Bush goes that way, neocon heads will roll, and Tenet's arrows will stay safely in his quiver. (I'd be more scared of the CIA than I would the hapless neocons.)
