A Paxton, Mass., teenager was arrested at Logan International Airport Friday morning after security officials said they found a threatening note inside his luggage.

8. Warning

When someone does something like this, it is a cry for attention, perhaps for help. Security did the correct thing in pulling the family off the plane. They did not overreact, you never know when something like this is real.

6. Uh....wouldn't a threatening note INSIDE his luggage

Be private property...and only would be considered a warning, or threatening, if it was put somewhere not in his bag?

I can have notes saying ANYTHING I fucking want in my personal property. As long as I don't put them so that others can see them, they are nothing more than my personal thoughts.

In this case, they were in his luggage. I can understand the security concerns, but I cannot support punishing this kid, even if he was an adult. There is no law against having a piece of paper in your luggage saying " Did you find the bomb? No, just clothes" or whatever it was.

Not to mention that it is not a threat, but a statement of fact - did they find a bomb? No, they just found clothes.

I didn't realize that we were so far through the looking glass that writing a note stating facts was illegal.

Security is SUPPOSED to check luggage for anything suspicious or did you nap through the last two years?

As for his comment, it strongly implies that there is a bomb, just that you haven't found it, "yet."

Had there been a bomb and the TSA not done anything it would have been a major scandal. I agree with the authorities on this one.

11. They did the right thing

Had they not taken the kid and his parents off the flight, and had something bad happened, they would have gotten flack for it.

You can't mess around with stuff like that.

there's a sicko on there. If there is a sicko on there.....I have no tolerance for taunting games. And if the feds just "let it go as a prank" ..... and it wasn't? What would the discussion be on here today? The bumbling HSD/TSA...had a CLUE and they didn't follow up on it! Good god, our tax dollars at work.

It is a federal crime to make a joke about any such things in any capacity. Has been for decades. I remember reading the SIGN at the airport in the early 1970s. I heeded it and knew, "gee, this is not a joking manner! Okay...I understand." And I was like 10 y.o.

Crimineny, are the airport officials now going to have to ask every single person to read the LAW on that and make them sign a consent saying they understand this law everytime we get on a plane?

Shall we have counseling offices in the airports to dress people down and let them know, "hey, this is serious...if you have anything to admit now...please do."

Or shall we do the RIGHT THING and send a very clear message to parents raising teens that it is their responsibility to make damn sure they raise kids with a CLUE. That might be easier.....societal pressure on parents to take responsibility for who they are bringing into this world.

That family should be SHAMED into hiding........
