Cautious optimism, but it sure feels great!
For the first time since I first came to DU shortly after the 2000 "elections" I am feeling optimistic about unseating Dubya next fall.

Who's with me?

3. Our long national nightmare may just be over. Work to do, though.
And the BBV issue needs to be straightened out.

4. Cautious optimism is about right
I'm always very cynical about the intelligence of the voting public. The majority can usually be manipulated pretty easily by playing to their base fears and prejudices.

BushCo will pull out all the stops to win this election. They won't hesitate to use any method to win. I mean ANY. They'll have $250 million to spend on deceptive advertisements. They can get more if they have to. They also moved their convention to September which is very late. They'll get a big bounce from that and much of it won't have time to dissipate before Nov. The economy will also be improving somewhat due to all the red ink spending the Repugs are doing.

I still think it's Bush* election to lose. But, this time at least the Democrats appear to be ready, willing, and able to fight. That's a refreshing change. And Bush* continues to slip up. If he keeps going on his current track, we've got a decent chance to bounce his ass back to Texas.
