Free Trade not popular with Wisconsin Democratic Primary voters.
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 07:36 PM by Eric J in MN
They just reported on MSNBC that when Wisconsin Democratic Primary voters were asked about Free Trade,

74% said it takes more jobs than it creates.
14% said it creates more jobs than it takes.

I guess the mantra of economists and most editorial pages that Free Trade benefits everyone is wearing thin.

2. Free trade not popular
with large segments of the population who've watched their jobs move overseas to cheap labor working under conditions we wouldn't permit here at home.

3. I hope they keep that in mind
the next time they shop at WallMart.
There is some major disconnect going on out there.

4. Chicago resident
Here fionce is from the heart of Wisconsin...I know these folks in WI very well, good hard working people who want health care for their families and jobs for their wage earners. Notice how Bush doesn't even attempt to campaign here because there are people here that would kick his ass the minute he stepped into the state thats if he even could make it through IL and Chicago :kick: They won't shop at Walmart anymore. They would rather pay more at a local hardware store...talk about pride.

5. that is good to hear
I wasn't aiming that specifically at WI folks. The real problem is people aren't generally given enough information to connect the dots. Perhaps this is changing. :-)
