John Dean: President Bush's New Iraq Commission Won't Be Investigating the
George W. Bush has been nothing short of a magician when it comes to making unpleasant matters confronting his presidency disappear. And on February 6, Bush once again did a bit of conjuring.

That day, he announced that he was creating an "independent commission, chaired by Governor and former Senator Chuck Robb, and Judge Laurence Silberman, to look at American intelligence capabilities, especially our intelligence about weapons of mass destruction." In doing so, Bush sought to head off what potentially could be an aggressive Congressional inquiry, or a Congressionally created independent commission, on the weapons of mass destruction (WMD) justification for the Iraq war.

Such an inquiry would doubtless focus on a set of questions that is bound to make Bush very uncomfortable: the central issue of whether Bush, and his Vice President Dick Cheney, accurately represented the pre-Iraq war intelligence (or lack thereof) when claiming that Saddam had WMD and that Iraqi had ties with al Qeada.

1. My, my, quite a shock.
Bush preventing the Cabal, formerly known as The Office of Special Plans, from being investigated.

Truly momentous.

3. Can you imagine if....
Clinton in 1998 said that in order to make everyone feel better in the country he would create an "independent commission" to investigate the Monica Lewinsky ordeal but that the commission could only investigate Monica's sex life but not her affair with Clinton? That is basically what this WMD Commission is doing. They are investigating everything except what the WH/OSP/Cheney did with the intelligence. What a joke!

2. John Dean is right on target with this....
here is another part of the article....

"Bush's magic appears to have worked again. His commission is a sham, and simply ignores the very reason he was pressured to create it. Yet it seems no one is complaining -- or at least, no one who could force the commencement of an legitimate investigation. "

I also have wondered why one is complaining about this commission. Where are the Democrats? Where is the media? ....it's a damn farce.

4. Even worse....
the dem presidential candidates (except fopr Sharpton maybe) have been quiet about this. What is that all about? Does Bush have pictures of these dems that is not flattering or something? Forget the AWOL story....this to me is the biggest scandal we have ever had in this country!

7. Without question, AWOL is just window dressing compared to what
a truly independent commission could find out. We do need to contact our senators and representatives and let them know how we feel about this. Furthermore, perhaps some of the media might pick up on it if they felt the public was incensed about it. Unless it is changed our country will never know the truth.

5. There's a Senate investigation that is going to go into...
... all the stuff Bush wants to hide.

So don't be getting your panties in a bunch over this commission, it's irrelevant.

Also, check out www.911independentcommission.org for a list of 23 humdinger questions the 911 families want to ask bush under oath. There are 23 "oh WOW's" in there.
