A car exploded near a Russian military hospital in a Caucasus region bordering war-wracked Chechnya on Friday, the local emergencies ministry said. A spokesman said a ministry team had rushed to the scene of the blast in the North Ossetian town of Mozdok, the site of one of the biggest Russian military bases in the Caucasus, but had no further information.

Blast Destroys Hospital Near Chechnya

ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia (AP)--An explosion destroyed a Russian military hospital near Chechnya, an emergency official said. Russian news agencies said there were casualties in blast.

The car-bomb blast destroyed a hospital in the town of Mozdok in the North Ossetia region, said Boris Dzgoyev, the regional Emergency Situations Minister. He said there were at least 100 people in the hospital at the time of the blast.
