Bush = Walmart Economy
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 11:08 PM by DianeG5385
That's why Walmart and small business owners love him! He is systematically destroying the American middle class. If we don't fight back, we will all be working for minimum wage. Then and only then will the magical "jobs" return to the US. But they will be greatly degraded jobs. They will be crap jobs. Moving jobs offshore cheapens the value of American labor. More "shareholder value, I guess...May I say, Lou Dobbs may be our hero

2. Exactly on "Target"!
OK, sorry for the pun. :silly:

This is such a HUGE issue. There is an opening here for the Democrats to run the table in November, if they could use it correctly.

3. Crap job...Yes
My sister and her husband both lost thier jobs. They both had to take lesser paying jobs and the only job my sister could get was at a WalMart...in a town an more than an hour away from where she lives. She works the graveyard shift and calls me every night on her way to work to keep from falling asleep on her long drive. She took graveyard shift to make the extra 50 cents per hour that pays for her gas. Some of the stories she tells me are almost unreal. Around 30 people laid off right before the benefits kicked in was the worst. She herself was written up for going over 40 hours in a work week. Several nights ago employees in several departments were told to clock out immediately ( 20 minutes before their 8 hours were up.) Apparently they were trying to save some money by making employees go home. She is so depressed about having to work at Walmart, but had no choice.
