"He wasn't very POPULAR" -- so sez Bush's eyewitness
Calhoun said it.

Tweety asked if Bush didn't have any pals to go to lunch with or hang out with.

Calhoun says he stuck to himself, because he wasn't very POPULAR.

This validates the witness of Bush friend and GOP chairwoman Jean Sullivan, who said there were so many complaints around town about Bush being a slacker and a boaster that she phoned the armory and told them to stop complaining about him.

Poor George. A LOSER all his life.

2. I find it very difficult to believe that the son of a congressman

would be unpopular amongst officers. They've got careers to think about.

I think the bastard just wasn't there.

3. Well, well, well
that proves the lie the media has been feeding us about Booosh being the guy we'd most like to have a beer with! And that he is SO likeable!

4. All indications
From the lips of Molly Ivins. Bush is VERY gregarious and VERY affable. Basically, he's a natural shmoozer (con artist).

In college, Bush was a frat boy party animal. He never met a keg he didn't like. Nor was Bush an intellectual. Why would he lack for companionship IN ALABAMA?!?!?!?!?

The description given by Jean Sullivan simply doesn't jive with Dubabya. They are trying to throw us off the scent by getting us to talk about him being "a slacker". If we do that, we implicitely validate the account, thereby implying that Bush WAS at the armory.

One more thing. We were already told that Bush was "just a guy in a jacket". If he only showed up once a month (if that), why would the armory get complaints about him??? A slacker??? He worked for the Senate campaign. If he was drinking and whorring too much, that I could understand. But "Slacking and bragging" all on a SINGLE night per month???

5. I guess that saying he was an asshole while he was there must seem
better to them then just admitting he wasn't there at all. It's pretty damn pathetic when you have to rely on dismal and derogatory remarks on your perceived 'character' while in a certain place to prove that you were there. This is just plain nuts.

6. another question I've got -- how about friends from Harvard?

Someone pointed out a while ago that Bush filled his cabinet with ... his dad's friends. One would think that after having been in all kinds of exclusive groups like Skull and Bones, the "Champagne Unit" of the TANG, and Harvard Business School, he would have tons of really good contacts he could call on.

I have nowhere near the cozy reputation he does, for being a "people person" -- and I've never been in any of those places and am under 40 to boot -- but I know I can count on more than a dozen qualified, trustworthy buddies for advice.

Does he just attract the wrong people? Or do folks sense that there is something amiss and don't want anything to do with him if it's a serious matter? What is it with young George?
