Dobbs hoisting Mankiw on his own petard with quotes
after Mankiw backed of 'outsourcing is good' speech the other day, Dobbs show is putting up recent quotes contradicting his own softening of his stance on outsourcing, in which he lamented the loss of jobs to actual PEOPLE, hah

here's one thing he said:

"Like all forms of international trade, outsourcing benefits an economy overall, though there are short-term costs as workers are displaced."

from whitehouse.gov

then they go into how dems are 'hammering' pugs on this

Dobbs says he's 'amazed' that economists like Mankiw can make statments like outsourcing is good for the economy

more coming up

3. wonder if he'll be forced to take a bullet for the CINChimp
Peter Viles, CNN reporter: "Pres did acknowledge last week that some American jobs have been lost to outsourcing, but the admin is still standing by that economic report that says outsourcing MAKES SENSE!"

too bad they didn't mention how many...like almost 200THOUSAND, right?

not to mention the many many many more they have planned

and no mention of all the companies receiving govt contracts, tax breaks that are giving jobs away to countries that pay dimes on the dollar

"until the admnin has an answer, they're going to be behind the 8ball. So far they have not said a single thing, other than outsourcing is GOOD."

4. interviewing Charles Lewis now
96% of americans gave no money in 2000

breaking down which party gets what from whom

not saying how much each party gets, though, making it seem that they get equal amounts of influence money

5. As much as I hate to say it, outsourcing can't be stopped.
But, how it is done is crucial. Believing in the "magic" of the marketplace is ruining our middle class and growing the underclass. A lot needs to happen from government to control this economic transition. Unfortunately for us, George thinks everything is going just great. Things will work out for "the little people" ...hmm...sometime.

Michael Pink was on Washington Journal over the weekend. He speaks about this and helps clear up some misconceptions. Ted Halstead and Michael Lind in The Radical Center also address how to make us more resilient during times of economic change. These shifts will happen, we just need to have strategies already in place to counter the ills that befall the people put out of work, and in the case of outsourcing to ameliorate the evils that arise from unregulated capitalism. George&Co just don't have what it takes. They are radical corporatists with tunnel vision. Even Nixon was better than this.

6. The right wing says that it makes for cheaper prices at Walmart and K-Mart
But when we are all part of the working poor, who will have the money to buy the things they sell?

We need to raise the wages in foreign countries. Workers of the world need to not let themselves be pitted against each other.

The federal government should not buy goods from companies that outsource.

7. Yes! We should have policies in place. But, no, the market is magic.
We are just supposed to "trust" it. America appears to be suffering from self imposed ignorance and an extreme case of economic denial.
