Are 'v' chips in t.v.s causing the media to attack * more?
I've been hearing about these tracking chips in new t.v.s for several years. They can record what programs are watched and transmit the info to some centralized place(s). This may have been an Ashcrafty post-9/11 initiative (can't remember though).

Anyway, I'm wondering if, like me, a lot of people switch the channel instantly the moment * apppears. (I know I'll go ballistic if I have to listen to his lies for more than a second, so I get the hell away asap.) My thought is that if enough of us are doing that, and those behaviors are being tracked and analyzed, the ever greedy media might have figured out that * is bad for business.

1. Your thinking of TiVo
v chips can't track anything. TiVo does though.

4. I didn't know what it was called. Do you think TiVo could be giving
such info to the networks?

6. Tivo would be pointless from my perspective
I only watch DVDs, VHS tapes, and maaaaaaaaaaaaaybe a nightly newscast and "8 Simple Rules" and "Boston Public" if I can remember to tune in.

Tivo can't look at what's in the DVD player. (Hah! Corporate 'copy protection' turns out to be a minus for them for once! :D )

not very common...not sure that's the technology you're thinking of..I don't think V chips send info out of the TV

3. I Dunno, but I wish those chips could block those trashy
"Girls Gone Wild Commercials" I have mine set to not show anything worse than PG-14, but it still shows that crap - It should work with commercials!

5. I think it corresponds more to opinion polls
watch late night tv and you could see the Bush* jokes increase with the drop in the polls. When he hit 50 even Leno was swatting hard at him.

But, keep that :tinfoilhat: handy, the V-chip might work two ways someday.
