GOPer nailed at restaurant
My partner and I were at a local restaurant last night.

In the course of conversation -- we discussed ,the charges of taking lobbyist money, and the recent counter-ad that he released.

A GOPer at the table behind us piped up and said that was a hypocrite.

I mentioned that Bush* had taken far more lobbyist money than , and that his whole administration was awash in special interests...

GOPer sputtered some ditto-head crap

I asked him -- if had taken SOOOOOOO much lobbyist/special interest money - then why did he have to mortgage his own property to finance his campaign?

GOPer's wife spoke up -- "that's right, I don't see bush* mortgaging anything, except our futures, to finance his campaign....."

GOPer didn't say anything, turned around and continued eating. Didn't seem to be a pleasant dinner as his wife started muttering about ENRON money, health care costs going up and how it may well be their GREAT grandchildren that would be paying for bush's economy...

1. Good for you!
I've started speaking up, too.
When a woman encouraged her bratty kids to go to the head of the line at McDonald's (in a crowded mall last Xmas), I asked her if she was a republican.

She said, "Yes."

I said, "It figures. Please teach your children that it's rude to butt in line."

Everyone in line (over 20 people) applauded and whistled.

The woman grabbed her children and left.

3. I used to have run in's w/people here in NE,...
now the RW here is as silent as church mice!

I recall about 2 years ago, that I was in a diner and there were some farmers at the next table talking about bush's attacks on 'those damn welfare bastards'. This prompted me to ask them, 'are you receiving subsidies from the gov't?' You could have heard a pin drop.

I said that if they were, they were nothing more than welfare bastards themselves, just much better off. I ended w/, 'let the market take it's course. You guys will really know what it is like to be welfare bastards then'.

In other cases, I have always spoken out against people that make statements supporting bush, in public places. One guy, apparently on a whim, while on line at one of the local stores, 'bush is the best president this country has ever had'. To which my answer, for all to here was, 'so, your telling me that bush is better than, Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, TR, FDR and Reagan? You really need to look at history. With the exception of Reagan, a person Republicans revere as some kind of demi-god, your statement makes no sense. bush is the wost president this country has ever had. Are yo better off since bush took office, did you make $ in the tax cuts. This cashier didn't see a dime, and I bet everyone else in this line, didn't get over $2 a week, but bush himself got a $14,000 break just off the top'.
This got a lot of smiles and thank you's. Seeds planted in fertile ground are what will give us OUR nation back.

9. This administration is imploding...
and everyone knows it.

What it will come down to, is credibility and lack of vision. Once a person's credibility is shot, it's just a matter of time before the crash comes. This is why the ANG thing is so important. Once people see that bush never been held accountable for his many failures, they will rise up against him. The ground is so fertile, it is begging to be tilled, so to speak. This guy acts like he is some kind of middle class hero, yet he has NEVER had to work for a dime, but has sweetheart deals most would die for. His most vulnerable point is that he is a hypocrite of the lowest order. As long as we hammer that idea home, he will get LESS than the core GOP vote, many GOP'ers have moral values, and they are repulsed by this piece of trash as well.

6. You did a great job of not mentioning 's name.
So this post could stay in GD, and not be moved to GD04.

7. Before, it felt like I was a hostage in my own country but my mom and I
bitch loud and clear everywhere and NO ONE says a word. But the
thing is, many nod and almost everyone smiles.

A lot of people bring him up now and it ain't pretty. Not pretty at all and most of them aren't as informed as we are. Good things are
happening.

I do not think there is anything more powerful than a mothers feelings for her children, unless it would be a fathers feelings.

in full recognition of what is happening to our children..thats why, every opportunity I have, I let the mothers, especially, kknow the rage and horror I feel about my loved one being in Iraq..
Now thats something that they can identify with.

18. You can be sure
the big hearted country girls and grandmas will take care of Billy Bob if it becomes widely known the real reasons for Iraq War is to make more money for the rich folks.

I imagine a skillet up side Billy's head will straighten him out on that score.

Bush, the great uniter....that's a slogan he stole from his Nazi grandfather Prescott.

It's funny to me...the GOP has gotten everything it has wanted and yet so many are so unhappy with the outcome that they won't vote for Bush...shouldn't that make them wonder about the ideals of the party they worship??
