Look out for mass conversion attempts after THE PASSION is released...
already on my local news - church leaders are preparing for door to door conversion walks with Mel Gibson's movie as their celluloid Lord and Savior. IS THIS ANOTHER BUSH RIGHT WING CHRISTIAN TOOL FOR SUBDUING THE MASSES?

How about we let people, including Christians, decide what to believe in for themselves? NOW THERE'S A CONCEPT.

2. Movie promotion hype...
I remember how people's heads were exploding in the movie theaters when the EXORCIST came out.

5. Its a free country! The nice thing about door to door
The nice thing about door to door is you can shut the door or refuse to answer it if you don't want to hear it. But I'd never recommend quashing free speech of any kind.

6. What?
I consider it an intrusion for some myth-peddlar to come to my door and bothering me for no good reason. I dislike door-to-door salespeople of any kind.

8. Hey that makes me think of that Supreme Court decision a couple years back
In Ohio or something about a city's ability to enforce no soliciting ordinances against religious groups. Does anybody no how that ruling turned out?

any religious zealot of any stripe who comes to my door gets an earful if he's lucky, and a good soaking with the hose if I feel particularly irritable.

15. How is that "quashing" free speech?
It's my house, my property, my door. I don't want, or need the fundies knocking on my door trying to convert me. They can go stand on a street corner waving a bible if they want, write letters to the paper, or preach to a captive audience in church, but they can stay away from my door. And, they don't need to bother leaving any pamphlets that will only wind up in the trash.

9. ...............................................
um..yes. Since the character of Jesus Christ is so much like that of George W. Bush, the likes of Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh will be fighting over who gets to come out of their mansions and go door to door among the commoners to show a Mel Gibson video in hopes that people will change their lives and vote Republican.

11. Look, I am NOT a Christian.
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 10:52 PM by Finnfan
A close review of the threads in GD will confirm that. But the character of Jesus Christ is NOTHING like George Bush. Jesus, the character, cared about the disadvantaged and the poor above all else. Jesus, the character, showed compassion to all. Jesus, the character, loved everyone, and NEVER advocated violence. Jesus, the character, is someone to emulate, even if he is not the "son of God".

13. Why are the people who brag most about their Christianity
the least CHRISTIAN when it comes to emulating Christ and his wonderful teachings?

GO FIGURE. I just hope all real Christians come to the rescue of their religion soon before the fundies take it over completely, and do irreparable damage to Jesus.

Poor guy. If he were here today, he'd probably kill himself in horror over what people are doing in his name. I feel for him.
