2. i believe he is waiting
for a well-timed, very well-choreographed, mass memorial for the unknown antiterrorist, complete with 21-gun regalia and a dedicated section of arlington cemetary....

... no doubt to take place shortly before the election....

6. Sounds about right.
I'm just checking. An in-law of mine is a WWII veteran, and is a Bush fan. I'm trying to break his resolve, without breaking him personally.

He is a conservative, so I must hit him with logic.

The fact that Bush hasn't had the respect to go to a single soldier funeral will make him ill.

Bush is probably waiting until it is the most politically expedient.

4. The idea is that calling attention to resources that have become unusable

might erode support for US operations to secure its natural resources around the world for American business interests.

In my opinion, Washington is being overcautious. Most of the people who join the military are neither rich nor glamorous, and the ones on the front lines, especially, tend to be recruited from populations that are considered undesirable before they join, and disposable once they do.

5. no member of $hrubco has attended ANY military funeral to date...
...Remember, this is the same group that has forbid the media to even take pictures of the caskets because it might "give comfort to the enenmy."

Cold-blooded, black-hearted sons of bitches. No other way to put it.
bush lied and thousands and thousands have died.

8. Another little quirk of character
that he shares with a Mr A. Hitler.

I think it is in Albert Speer's book where Hitler visits some bombed out buildings, the results of a british bombing raid on Berlin, and is so appalled that he never visits one again.

These types of guys don't like to be confronted with the real life consequences of their actions.

9. One difference...
Hitler was a WWI veteran, who probably did see some death first hand. But he was still NVTS, nuts! (sic)

10. Remember...
He did have time to take last August off and do some fundraising. All the while, 35 more US soldiers died. Over one per diem.

Somehow, he just couldn't squeeze in a funeral.

11. Absolutely disgusting
That vacation and all his vacations to Crawford piss me off. He sends soldiers to war, they are able to sleep maybe 3 to 4 hours a day, work 7 days a week in deplorable conditions, and he goes on vacation or to Camp David to "rest".

Many soldiers didn't even get to come home for 15 days R&R (my husband didn't get it because we don't have any kids) and many that did had to pay for their own plane tickets.

If the soldiers have to suffer 365 days of 20 hour days, dangerous conditions, and such, then Dubya can live without a vacation for a year. IMO

14. The US Military...
Should not be used for wars of Imperial conquest, and they should not be used for 'nation building', in my opinion.

This bi-partisan issue has been thrust into the glaring light of the world stage courtesy of the President, his Neoconservative buddies, and the greed of the Military Industrial Congressional Complex.

It's time for some change.

AWOL needs to retire to Crawford where he can reflect on his incivility for a decade or two.

Unlike his Daddy, he won't be able to get a job at Carlyle, he drove one of their companies into the ditch during a brief stint there.

Why should he waste his "beautiful mind" on such trivialities?

17. Chimp just "doesn't want to play favorites!"
Going to one dead soldier's funeral would send the message that he was Shrub's favorite dead soldier. We can't have that.

18. They should hold the funerals right next to his fund raising speeches
Then he'd have to duck in the back way to avoid the mourners.
