2. Barney Frank is our secret nuclear weapon
In 1989 a bunch of House conservatives threatened to start a rumor that Tom Foley, the Speaker, was gay. Frank politely informed them that if they did so he would go public with the names of other Republicans in Washington D.C who he knew to be gay. The conservatives backed down. Frank has always maintained that he has a last minute nuclear option of outing known gay Republican conservatives if the situation becomes serious enough. He came close to doing so during the impeachment ordeal.

6. If the impeachment disaster wasn't enough
exactly what the hell would have been Barney?

He was my congressman for a decade before I relocated to "Bush (and God's) Own Country" and I liked him but...seriously, the Constitution itself was taking a beating and that wasn't enough to make a serious threat against the hypocritical House leadership? Give me a fuckin' break

12. Hmmm... makes me wonder about our Colorado governor
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 09:37 PM by eleny
His wife left him last year and the reasons are under a huge hush hush blanket. No specific theories beyond infidelity of some sort were even put forth. I'm still wondering about all that and this Texas scandal now made me wonder out loud about Gov. Owens.

He has no charisma whatsoever. He's very flat. He would do terribly in debates. He may run but he would get nowhere.

14. Could the Gentleman Caller possibly have been....
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 09:42 PM by Ilsa
David Dewhurst? There is high speculation that he is gay. He was married once for a very short spell (IIRC), and the terms of the divorce supposedly prevent his ex from discussing any details of the intimate parts of the marriage (must be a big annual check).

(The only reason I wonder if it could be DD is that being so far up in the administration, they would gravitate towards one another because each has an equal amount to lose if outed.)

She has her sights set on replacing Governor Goodhair (Rick PERRY, he of the TX redistricting-Tom DeLAY theft). But before Scott gets over his post-traumatic-stress-disorder from the crumbling Shrub regime, there will have to be sessions between him and mommy around the question, "How come Brother got the cushy FDA job, while I got this hellhole press secty job for Shrub? Did you like Brother better?"

Maybe she'll "go Hispanic" for the Hispanic vote: Carole Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn-GONZALEZ MARTINEZ BUSTAMANTE.

Now that Carole Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn has remarried (again), do you suppose they'll rename 26th Street to match?

Kika, technically the street is named after her father, former Dean of the UT Law School. But I've always figured it was really named in tribute to Carole K.M.R.S. and if she weren't a powerful politician, UT and the city could've found somebody else to name it after.

http://www.ourcampaigns.com/cgi-bin/r.cgi/CandidateDetail.html?&Candid ...

She is married to Ed Strayhorn, the founder and president of the oldest tennis court construction business in Texas. Mr. Strayhorn also is an accomplished jewelry designer whose works are on display in galleries across America.

They are the proud parents of five grown sons, and proud grandparents of four young granddaughters.

Her son, Scott McClellan is the new White House Press Secretary.

The "Keeton McCLELLAN RYLANDER STRAYHORN" part is, indeed, Carole's collection of surnames, but just a joke at the street named in political sychophancy for her father, Dean KEETON.

How to Get to UT Austin
The University of Texas at Austin is located in the heart of the city of Austin, just north of the downtown area. Campus is just two miles from the State Capitol. Main thoroughfares around campus include Guadalupe to the west, MLK to the south, Red River to the east and 26th (Dean Keeton) to the north. Check out the main area map of the university.

IH-35
Take MLK Boulevard exit heading west for South campus; campus will be on your right. Or take 26th Street (Dean Keeton Street) exit heading west for North campus; campus will be on your left.

29. I wouldn't be surprised
I've been trying to find something I read a while back about GHWB White House and a male escort service making late night visits to the White House. It was almost a huge scandal but got buried. Does anyone remember this? As I recall it had some connections to a religious group somewhere in the west (Colorado)? The religious group was providing the young boys?
