Once again you've demonstrated that an independently-funded progressive website can thrive and succeed. We're extremely grateful for your generous show of support.

We know that these have been a difficult few months. Primary campaigns are always hard, and with such a great field of candidates and such a strong desire to see the jackass removed from the White House in November, we're not surprised that there has been such passionate debate over which candidate we will put forward to take him on.

But ultimately we know that liberal communities like DU are doing a very worthwhile job - providing liberals with news they can't get anywhere else, faster than they could get it anywhere else, and - let's face it - really, really pissing off conservatives who thought they owned the Web. And thanks to your support, DU is going to be around for a little while longer.

But I doubt if many freepers donate to their own site. These are people who seem to think they are entitled to have anything they want, without having to sacrifice for it.

(Oh, and the thing about RimJob blowing their money like a pimp, yah, that's part of the problem, too. But look for a five-year-old Kia Sephia in his driveway, not a new Vette. There just aren't enough donations to siphon, for him to afford a new Vette.)

But cut these people a little slack. We can't expect too much integrity from those who look to the likes of Hannity, Coulter and Limbaugh as role models.
