1. It seemed like polite applause
Not a very long ovation, and not very enthusiastic, but I did not hear much booing.

6. I didn't hear any boos
but it sure wasn't what I thought was overwhelming support. Polite applause, that's about it.

15. If the motercade interfered with the flow of traffic
around the track people cared alright. They were probably some of the ones booing.

9. Well, if he's such a big NASCAR fan (according to Scotty Mc)...
...why did he leave in the middle of the race?

It's pretty clear he could give a shit about NASCAR or its fans.

12. why did he leave? I'd be happy to tell you...
...what the WH will say if asked:
"President Bush* didn't want to interupt the fans enjoyment by his presence---since the very important presence of the Pres of the US is a target for terraists!"

They have it all canned and ready to go---its simply a variation of the answer to why such a *religious* man never goes to church.

11. Sporting events are always a crap shoot for politicians
I share the delight of the thought of Bush being booed anywhere. But unless the introduction is carefully orchestrated, any pol is likely to get some boos. People are there to see the sporting event, not politicians. One of the reasons people go to sporting events is to get away form politicians. OTOH, if he were truly popular......
