Wolfowitz PRAISES Scott Ritter - WMD Whistleblower
In 1998....

http://www.fas.org/spp/starwars/congress/1998_h/98-09-16wolfowitz.htm

"It is an honor to appear as part of a hearing in which Scott Ritter testifies. Scott Ritter is a public servant of exceptional integrity and moral courage, one of those individuals who is not afraid to speak the truth. "

Scott Ritter, July 17, 2002:

"No one has substantiated the allegations that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction or is attempting to acquire weapons of mass destruction. And of course that is the reason we have been given for going to war against Iraq -- because of the threat posed by these weapons. It has been nothing but rhetorically laced speculation, not hard facts, that have been presented by either the United States or Great Britain to back this up, and until they provide hard facts, there is no case for war. "

1. Ritter
It's been widely speculated that Ritter received a sharp blow to the head sometime after 1998. His behavior really has been strange lately.

3. p.s.
you can look at this maladminstration and think that scott ritter is the one who should be attacked for acting strangely?

6. Weirdos Everywhere
Don't get me wrong, the inmates are running the asylum from the top down. But having followed Ritter's testimony and talks for years, I do think he's taken a sharp turn somewhere, and pointing it out is hardly an 'attack'.

10. if, in fact, he took a "sharp turn" somewhere...
...there could be other explanations besides going crazy or whatever your post suggests. point out the problem with ritter's argument or be ready to stand accused of ad hominem attacks.

12. Fair enough
Read Ritter's words in this interview from 1998:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/middle_east/july-dec98/ritter_8-31.html

Now read his words in the CNN article mentioned above:

http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/meast/07/17/saddam.ritter.cnna/

There's no meaningful explanation for his complete about face. In 1998, after his resignation, he was complaining about obstruction. In 2002, for whatever reason, he was claiming 100% access. If the Weekly World News claimed that space aliens had possessed Ritter's body, I'd read it with an open mind.

13. Things may have changed in December 1998
when the US & British bombed weapon sites in Iraq. Over 75 targets were hit, including Iraqi weapons plants, communication facilities and military installations.

There has been speculation that the weapons program was crushed by those strikes.

14. Possibly
Although Scott Ritter would have no reliable information from those strikes to justify his change in opinion. It would be "speculation, not hard facts", like he accuses Bush of.

15. Possibly is right
But I know when I leave a position, I keep in contact with my former colleagues. Not saying this is true in this case, but I would say that Ritter would definitely still be privy to information that we outsiders wouldn't.

Either way, I just posted this to have a little giggle at the evil-doer hypocrite Wolfowitz.

11. He's been right the whole time.
He's the only one who hasn't had to change his story over and over.

By the way, doesn't he have a book out now?

9. a good blurb for Ritter's new book
I'm sure Wolfie wouldn't object to endorsing someone who isn't afraid to speak the truth. ;)
