I can’t imagine a smooth transition. Maybe the chimp will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming out of the oval office. Will Cheney hole up in his bunker with his finger on the nuclear button? I don’t think they are going to be satisfied with taking the "J","F" & "K" keys off the White House computers.

1. Have the republicans ever been known...
to take defeat quietly, and respectfully? I think this year, more than others, will be like you said, "dragged, kicking and screaming" into the night. Maybe Bush Sr'll be there to comfort his chickenhawk child with some cocaine.

2. Webster,
I was just thinking about this last night - fantasizing about the look on bush's face when he makes that walk with Kerry (presumably) to the swearing-in ceremony.

Ahhhh, yes, his face will be so pinched, you'll think that the chimp is trying to poop out a watermelon! :D I can't WAIT!

3. The think tanks and media bias will still be there
It might be like it was with clinton (looking for reasons to impeach). All the right-wing hatred of the Eevil Fedral Gubmint will still be there - it could be very ugly.

5. Afraid so...
They will still have their grossly over-played sense of entitlement to power. They will look for ways to express that, even if we put Jesus in office. :eyes:

They need a good crisis of faith/purpose to make them more reflective, cautious. Even the most obnoxious hubris will at some point over-reach. But I don't see that type of event anywhere on the horizon.

When I was younger I liked thinking Watergate served that purpose, but sadly it just made them meaner.

6. No, not quietly
they've proven themselves in that regard, that's for sure.

It's not only the noise they make, it's the quiet nasty stuff they do in the behind the scenes shadows.

8. Exactly
If only half of what American Dynasty alleges is true, these guys won't miss a beat subverting our democracy behind the scenes. Thanks to the neocons, MI complex, partisan intelligence community, conservative think tanks, activists judges, multinationals, and Halliburton's high-tech mercenary army, we're in for a rough ride.

These assholes aren't just going to walk away from their Pax America wet dreams.

...and we will watch as the media reports it for a whole week, even without any photographic evidence- Oh wait, thats what happened to us...

10. They will go alright, but
they will take out their rage on the newly elected Democratic President.

Having watched their own hand-picked boy, the perfect combination of
upper class connections and born-again Christianity, destroy himself
with his own ignorance and corruption, they'll be looking for someone to blame.

Whoever is in the White House a year from now will have walked in to one nasty
shark tank. They better be tough.

11. Could be worse than we think
They might concoct some 'crisis' that requires military action (troops or missiles) so that the new president is consumed by a situation he didn't create but will have to address. Remember how Clinton wouldn't use his December 2000 info on bin Laden because he felt that incoming president should be able to decide how to deal with it? Look for Bush to try to dictate the first year's agenda for the incoming president.

13. Bush 1 sent troops to Somalia with one month left.
Left a nice steaming pile for Clinton. I can imagine Shrub doing something llike that, only worse.

15. HRH George I
Thanks for pointing out that His Royal Highness (HRH) George I sent troops to Somalia with only a few weeks left in his presidency. This is something that always gets glossed over or distorted in the infamous "liberal" media, with Clinton getting the blame for Somalia.

When HRH George II is ousted, the Great Wurlitzer will unleash a furious attack on whoever comes into the White House.

16. Remember how they treated the Big Dawg...
they never saw him as legitimate for some reason. Well, heck he did win to popular vote, didn't he? And Georgie Jr. didn't. So we know who's legitimate and who's the usurper.

The repukes were vitriolic in their hatred of Clinton from day one. I agree with other posters -- he'll leave the new democratic president with a mess on his hands, just like his daddy did.

Remember how sanctimonious they were over Marc Rich? The next round will make poppy's pardon of Weinberger et al seem like child's play.
