Poll question: Which Dem candidate's soundbite about *'s SOTU Niger lie is your favorite?

re: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A29766-2003Jul8.html

Several candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination spoke out yesterday. Rep. Richard A. Gephardt (D-Mo.) said Bush's "factual lapse" cannot be easily dismissed "as an intelligence failure." He said the president "has a pattern of using excessive language in his speeches and off-the-cuff remarks" which "represents a failure of presidential leadership."

Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) said the administration "doesn't get honesty points for belatedly admitting what has been apparent to the world for some time -- that emphatic statements made on Iraq were inaccurate."

Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.), former chairman of the intelligence panel, said, "George Bush's credibility is increasingly in doubt."

Rep. Denis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio) expanded the credibility problem to the administration: "The White House's admission that it cited false information to set this country on the path toward war erodes the credibility of the administration."

Former Vermont governor Howard Dean said, "The credibility of the U.S. is a precious commodity. We should all be deeply dismayed that our nation was taken to war and our reputation in the world forever tainted by what appears to be the deliberate effort of this administration to mislead the American people, Congress and the United Nations."

on edit: I realized the quotes were too long to fit in the poll itself.

1. These guys need to get with it

They're learning, and I think Dean's showing them the way. I just wish they'd get a little bit more back-bone.

FYI: I edited the snot outta this. It's a total re-write, cuz the first version was crap. Not that the second is much better. :)

2. No kidding.
I wish they'd stop throwing around variations of "their credibility has been weakened." Bush quite possibly betrayed one of the explicit duties of his office (delivering an honest summary of the state of the nation), and defrauded the nation's representatives (Congress) into sanctioning the worst of all human crimes (belligerent war). I think it's a little more serious than his reputation being hurt or our intelligence community needing better proofreading.

3. That's why I voted for Gephardt's quote
He used "failure of presidential leadership." I think that hits harder than the others.

4. I had to vote for Dean, but even that one could have been better
How about: "Bush lied. His aides lied. They should all be removed from office."

I guess there's an advantage to not running for office. See how easy it is to say what you think?

5. To vote for JR's meme or William Pitt's latest, reply to this and say why.

6. Will's piece should be read far and wide
We should hope that it reaches a wider audience than the left/liberal web circuit. The soccer moms and construction workers who have relyed on corporate media for information and have been fed the junta's lies uncontroverted need to read it.

As always, it is an honor to be mentioned in the same breath with Will Pitt. Thank you.

7. Don't wanna jump on no Dean bandwagon yet

...but that was easily the most 3-dimensional and articulate one. Ought to carry weight even with those 8-10 Repukes capable of analytical thought.

on edit: though I gotta say, Kerry's isn't bad either. I like stressing the fact that the world and anyone with a brain is way out ahead of the *admin on this (and everything else).
