Did Robin Williams actually say this? Or is this more freeper madness?
I just got this in the mail today from an ignorant ex-coworker. It states that Robin Williams actually said this, is this true? Does anyone know? It sounds like more freeper hate tripe to me.

Here we go.

Robin Williams has come to his senses!!!

Believe it or not, Robin Williams has come up with the perfect plan... what
we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan... (Hard to argue with this logic!)

I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a
plan for peace. So, here's one plan:

1. The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in
their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo,
Noriega, Milosovich and the rest of those 'good ole boys.' We will
never "interfere" again.

2. We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting
with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there.
We would station our troops at all US borders.
No more will anyone sneak through holes in the fence.

3. All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and
leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the
remainder will be gathered up and deported to France immediately,
regardless of who or where they are. France should welcome them.

4. All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90
days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation
would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself
and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We
don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers who won't speak
English.

5. No "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If
they don't attend classes, or they get a "D" and it's back home baby!.
Never to Return.

6 The US will make a strong effort to become self -sufficient
energy wise This will include developing non-polluting sources of
energy
but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan
wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7. Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel
for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else. They
can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of
the wells filling up their storage sites would be enough.)

8. If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world,
we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for
seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we
give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it
most get very little, if anything.

9. Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place.! We
don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the
building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal
aliens.

10. All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no
one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer.

Now, ain't that a winner of a plan.

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your
tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's
yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'"

If you agree with the above forward it to friends

I got the same email a few months ago. I thought it was out of character for Robin Williams to make a bunch of idiotic statements like that.

11. He said one bit about the Statue of Liberty, the rest is crap
...unless you think a hardcore republican wannabe would give money to Nancy Pelosi, NY dems, and the DNC, over $18000 in the last four years.

"Failing career" my ass. The man has a captive audience wherever he goes and whatever he does. He's won academy awards for recent films. He's a huge draw at Democratic fundraisers. He recently had a feature-length bush-bash on HBO. I'll believe an independently wealthy liberal like RW has sold out when you pry him from my cold dead brain.

32. That's why most of the message obviously isn't from RW: it isn't funny
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 02:41 AM by 0rganism
Williams is one of the comic geniuses of our time. That list of "kill 'em all" talking points doesn't even come near his humorous style.

Imagine getting handed one of those German war propaganda posters ca 1940 and being told that it's a Van Gogh. You look at it and it's obviously at odds with everything the artist has said or done, it's anachronistic, it's crude, and it doesn't take a pro to tell you it's not a Van Gogh.

Find ONE thing on there, besides the Statue of Liberty quote which IS from Williams, that fits his style. See if you can come up with any of those 10 jingoistic talking points that Williams could have said, really imagine him saying them too.

It's bullshit.

Here's the news archives link to one of its appearances WITHOUT the RW quote, and you'll notice no reference to RW in the post.

34. But usually its funny
there wasn't one thing funny or thoughtful in the rant.

If Robin Williams wrote it, it was a different Robin Williams, or it lacks the context of delivery -- ie him dressing up like a moron.

Irregardless of who wrote/said it, any true freeper would stop reading it after point #6. Finding alternate energy sources would be sacrilage to a repug.

38. Not necessarily true...
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 08:40 AM by gander2112
There just has to be a way to exploit {people|places|countries|economies} to make it interesting to them.

Show them how they can get obscenely rich without risking their weekend golf games at the 'club, and they will be all over it like stink on sh*t.

Unfortunately, the reality is that all the promising alternative sources involve a huge up front cost, and a full generation deferment of realizable commercial success. In light of this, the "pump more oil" argument works...

His Broadway show put him on top again. He killed Bush in it. Also I think he endorsed a Democrat. I can't remember which one. Even if he were to turn right wing he would still be somewhat funny. This shit posted above is too mediocre for him.

You're the one that uptight enough about the issue to post repetitively about it.

If you're THAT uptight about Robin Williams having said this, certainly it should be very easy to provide LINKS to proof Robin Williams actually did say it.

So far, two people have posted links (urbanlegends, snopes) that say in no uncertain terms that RW is not responsible for most of this garbage.

You contend you saw him say it. On Fox, no less.

The burden of proof is entirely on you, should you choose to shoulder it.

If it were, there would have been at least a dozen detours into other topics during that spiel.

Something like, "... shelter or lockup for illegal aliens. Illegal aliens, whoa. It's like Dorothy and she's meeting the Lollipop Guild for the first time... (high squeaky voice) We welcome you to Orange alert! (Normal voice) And there's John Ashcroft riding across the sky on a broom (evil cackly voice) I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, Achmed, too!"

But what else would you expect from Republicans? Most of their entertainment people are talentless hacks like Denniss Miller. They would turn their mother in if someone actually funny like Williams or Carlin was to take their hate filled idiotic side.

- Yeah...that's what the 'other side' does.

- It's like a chain reaction around here when someone does this. One person says...'he's only saying it because he's trying to revive a failing career'...another person agrees and soon the quotes are established as 'fact'.

- Please don't post something as a 'quote' unless you can back it up.

The statements are so off the wall as to be ridiculous - something that only a die-hard freeper would agree with. But, also, if Robin Williams had said those things, they would have been a LOT funnier. He couldn't be that dull if his life depended on it.

41. I don't believe it
I have seen Robin Williams interviewed several times and he has always consistently savaged the Bush Administration mercilessly. This sounds much more like Dennis Miller.

Or it could be a RW attempt to discredit Williams among liberal/progressive audiences and thus destroy his career prospects. Look at where Dennis Miller has gone since he turned to the RW
